Regardless here’s my second submission! Rather simple so I added an extra doodle under the cut, but it’s safe to say that Matthew still hasn’t forgiven Fritz for his carelessness

Warhorse made hansry canon, they gave samjohn matching (wedding) Rings.

they included quite the collection of queer men (Istvan, Erik, bartosch, barnaby, brother lucas, etc.)

so would it be too much to ask for henry to mention just once, that he saw Fritz and Matthew hold hands? just a tiny sentence, just a little remark

Henry's friendship with Matthew and Fritz is such an interesting part of the first game. Because they used to be best friends. They grew up together, they spent their days slacking off and drinking together and getting in the trouble.

But then the tragedy at Skalitz happened and Henry changed and they did not.

But with less luck, without his heritage (he didn't knew off, yes, but it was already opening him doors that would otherwise stayed close) if he just made one or two different decisions he could so easily end up like them, be there with them, letting Matthew talk him into all the stupid and dangerous ideas.

They are there to be the dark mirror for Henry, a cautionary tale. And he can keep trying to help them, he changed so much, they surely must have change a lot too! But also he can truly give up on them and go the rightious path and help them get to the gallows, fulfill the grim prediction of Henry's mother from beginning of the game.

And you might like them or hate them or ignore their quests but they are such an intriguing characters adding yet more depth to Henry's story...

Fritz/Matthew ff

Good morning Matthritz enjoyers. All five of you.

Ever since I first played the game, I’ve loved Fritz and Matthew. I’ve been obsessing over their story arcs, making headcanons… for Christ’s sake, I even followed them around the map whenever they moved locations.

So you can probably imagine my shock when I found out how much hate they get. Just open any Reddit thread, people saying they deserve to be hanged. Ouch.

For a while, I genuinely felt alone in liking them… until I stumbled into a concept previously unknown to me: what if they were gay? (thank you, Tumblr and AO3 for opening my eyes)

So here I am, finally adding something to this humble potluck, an AO3 fic. My first one I’ve actually published. The rest will remain buried on my hard drive forever. <3

Summary:

«Where’s Matthew?»  

Fritz’s eyes meet his,  «They got him, the fucking bastards killed him,» he screams. He doesn’t mean to, but he can’t stop himself. Tears start streaming down his face; he doesn't remember the last time he cried. He must've been a little boy. «I’ve watched them kill him!»

Silence, there's nothing Henry can say, nor do to make his friend feel better. He watches him fight back the stream of tears, unsuccessfully.

After the Quest “A Rock and a Hard Place,” Fritz believes Matthew is dead. He isn't.
