More thoughts on Katherine, Theresa and Bonnie

I feel like Katherine, Theresa and Bonnie are the women in KCD who are least likely to marry or have children in the future.

Altough Jan Žižka seems to hope for Katherine to overcome her past and settle down because maybe he sees that as a peaceful and good future for her, her sarcastic response to it makes it pretty clear that she's done with it. I think the things that happened to her caused irreversibly damage, which may be mended a bit with time but can never be fully healed. The loss of a loved person and a child can simply not be overcome by replacing them.

Theresa was a bit luckier than Katherine that she at least escaped those soldiers. Nevertheless she basically was like a mother figure to her younger brother and having a family on her own would only remind her of her own family she lost in Skalitz. In addition to this the memories of what happened in Skalitz will resurface from time to time, especially in quiet moments when she isn't busy with something. Under such conditions marriage and motherhood would be more of a grief and burdon than something enjoyable. I headcanon that as the secoundary reason for refusing Henrys idea of marriage in KCDI.

Bonnie has experienced none of those horrors. But due to her education in the monestary she's more focused on scientific research and her studies. She's the most educated of them and the only one who can read and write and has no time for something like marriage. (I also wonder if she's from a lesser noble family or a wealthy merchant family.)

I like to imagine that if Theresa joins the Devil's pack, Katherine and her would be like older sister and younger sister. Theresa could benefit from Katherines life experience and would also learn healing related skills from her and Musa and Katherine could emotionally benefit from the more optimistic way of thinking that Theresa exudes.

If Bonnie joins, she and Katherine would be a good team as long as they agree with each other, but they would also get into quite an argument, when it comes to stuff they disagree. They should be about the same age and have some similar abilities like knowledge about herbs, skills in lockpicking and stealing, but their character and opinions could be quite different. Bonnie would be more willing to teach Theresa crime related skills.

For the future I think Katherine will stay with Žižka because she found her home there and fight with him in the Hussite wars, Bonnie will move on and pursue more scientific endeavors (for example in Prague, but also other parts of the world) and Theresa will either return to Rattay to continue her work in the mill, stay with the gang for a while or travel through bohemia as a healer. That would depend on the level of weariness of life by then.

KCD II: Special places of reminiscence

I found a reddit post where the user shared a video of a special place in Trosky. It's a bench with an overview of the Trosky region and it's marked with yellow ribbons. If Henry sits on the bench he will reminisce about his mother. I just found another one in the Kutternberg region and sat on the tree stump and he thinks about Bianca and how they often met at a shrine. Now I really want to see how many of these special places are in KCD II and whom he will remember next.

KCDII: Katherine's backstory and Jobst

When Henry, Katherine and Jan Žižka arrive at Suchdol they have a small discussion with Peter of Pisek and they also talk about their acquaintance with Jobst. Jan Žižka makes no secret of his dislike for Jobst. He also mentions his and Hyneks service to Jan Sokol of Lamberg. According to Wikipedia Jan Sokol of Lamberg was the leader of one of the noble robber bands who fought against Heinrich III of Rosenberg (supporter of Sigismund). Jan Sokol of Lamberg was in the service of Prokop (brother of Jobst but in favor of Wenceslaus, while Jobst was a supporter of Sigismund during the Moravian Margrave Wars) and also fought against Jobst till Prokops death in 1405.

So in summary Jan Sokol of Lamberg, Jan Žižka and Hynek of Kunstadt (and probably also Hynek's brother Jindřich) are robber barons in the service of Prokop who weakened their opponents by raiding merchant caravans and small fortresses etc. (By the way I'd like to mention that this was a lucrative business for Jan Žižka and Hynek, who were already in debt as young men).

Anyway, back to Katherine:

In the game they talk about their acquaintance with Jobst and when Jan Žižka wanted to talk about Katherine she quickly cuts off the conversation, saying that it will not be off interest to the noble man (Peter of Pisek).

I thought about what their acquaintance could be. So here is a little headcanon for Katherines backstory. What if the soldiers who attacked and destroyed her village and killed her family were under the command and in the service of Jobst during the Moravian Margrave Wars? It could explain why it feels like she's no longer as driven by revenge as Henry is, even though revenge was her motive to join Žižka. Because if Jobst is now an ally, revenge becomes way harder for her to achieve than for Henry and may even feel pointless, since it would lead to more chaos and destabilisation, while killing Istvan and Markvart von Aulitz actually has a positive impact on their goals.

Interesting NPC's in KCD II: Bara

Bara is the first person who helps Henry after he is released from the pillory by giving him some clothing and helpful advice. Later she can be found in the Kuttenberg region as the owner of a bathhouse. She tried her luck in the city but soon realized that she didn't like how the bathhouses were run in the city (too expensive, too much people and too dirty), so she came up with her own concept.

I like to imagine that Henry and Bara build up a friendship and altough their businesses are too different to ever become business partners they talk about the smithy and the bathhouse, customers and how things are developing whenever Henry has some work to do in the surrounding villages and passes by her bathhouse.

Theresa of Skalitz

Finally I'll have some time till the end of the year and hopefully some time for drawing again.

I tried to sketch Theresa. It's not easy, but a good chance to practice some more realistic type of faces.

I also thought about what kind of armor she could wear, if she'd be a part of the devil's pack. So here is some concept sketch.

It's a light armor with some chainmail as neck protection. The armor is put together by whatever the members of the devil's pack had still in storage from their raids and they shortened her surcoat.

Interesting NPCs in KCD II: Monk Vojtiech

Today I started the last DLC and stumbled upon this fellow.

He, Monk Jaroslav, Monk Ernest and Blazhena, a woman who works at the monastery, secretly invent and write down a bunch of jokes.

I hope Vojtiech, Monk Jaroslav and Blazhena survive to continue their secret book society. It also made me think of another character who likes to write humorous stories in secret: Rosa Ruthard.

Now I can't stop thinking about a secret book club in Kuttenberg, where all kinds of people, whom no one would suspect of enjoying and writing funny stories and jokes, send each other manuscripts and letters to share their latest work.
