Hi! I love your game and i just wanted to ask (ignore this if you've answered it already)

Is cryptid coffeehouse mc and kurou connect mc the same person? I can't play kurou connect because i feel like im betraying Artemis! I love them so much that i can't look at Artemis without smooching them.

hii! i don't think i've answered this one on tumblr before aside from some brief mentions in other asks (i've answered it on twitter before though). no, actually, they're not the same person. initially, yes, they were supposed to be, but after a bit i figured that it would make more sense for the timeline for them to be two different people. this is why when you play the kurou connect demo, the writing makes it seem like you're the same person! but in future versions of the game, that won't be the case.

cryptid coffeehouse takes place in the fall & winter, approximately from september to december. just over a year later, kurou connect takes place on a single day in july. by this time, the cryptid coffeehouse mc and artemis have already been dating for about a year and a half. in more complete versions of kurou connect, i plan for the cryptid coffeehouse mc to be mentioned in passing a few times by kurou, so in the game it will also be made clear that there's a separation between the two games. there's a lot of other cryptid coffeehouse related things that kurou will bring up over the course of the game, but the original mc will be one of them at some point or another.

one thing i will say, though, is that artemis plays an incredibly minor role in kurou connect lol. you'll only see them in the prologue (which the demo covers) and at the very end of the game. pretty much the only person you'll be talking to is going to be kurou and then some kurou connect exclusive side characters with a few lines.

How much do I have to pay you to add a route where Kurou gets hit by a car and has to go to the hospital into Kurou connect.

this is actually really really funny because i have an ending planned where he gets arrested 😭😭😭😭😭 i'm still trying to decide what's going to happen aside from the true route, since i haven't really had the time to think about anything but the dlc at the moment, but i've been wanting to add some really silly routes & endings into the game for some humor. think about how ridiculous some of the routes for monster prom are... i would love to evoke something like that, hahaha, but we'll see how the development goes later this year!

Not a question I just wanna say I love Kurou connect so much I played cryptid coffeehouse a couple years ago and lowkey liked Kurou more than Artemis (no offense I love them all🙌🙌) so I recently went on itch.io to play the game again and was super excited when I saw u were making Kurou Connect!! The dlc was so good I can tell it’s gonna be such a good game, keep up the amazing work u rlly r a jenius 💯💯

HAHA the kurou vs artemis thing is so common... it's so funny to me that you guys like him so much! because i think when i was making the game for the first time all those years ago, i figured people would just find him alright. but he's like a HUUUGE favorite. i have the feeling that when i get to working on kurou connect again, he's probably going to overshadow artemis entirely 😭 sorry artemis baby

i hope to work on kurou connect soon!!! i'm going on a big trip this month, but once i get back in june, i hope to start putting all my ducks in a row and preparing what will be done next on my game dev schedule. i currently have lots of plans for the near future, so i'll keep y'all posted on everything as it happens.

I'd stumbled upon Kurou connect first, drawn in by the incredibly cute art style!! I was sooo sad it was just a demo because it was just THAT good!! I love Kurou sooo much holy he is just such a cutie! I love the dynamic between him and us, it's too good hehe. this is really starting to get repetitive so forgive me LMAO. then I played cryptic coffeehouse, where I freaking fell in LOVE with Artemis. I love how you write your characters and genuinely this is one of my favs now because there is just sooo much to explore!! im not that good with my words either but I promise you that I mean 100000x more than whatever I'm writing now!! okay, i've been getting a bunch of questions about kurou connect lately, which is kind of funny. i believe that i've talked about the timeline a few times in a couple of different asks over the past several months, but i'm not sure if i've gone into full detail aside from this ask here. i think it would be helpful for everyone if i actually wrote out a real timeline, lol so here's my plan currently if i get my shit together...

here are my current tasks, with some vague time estimates:

this week: finish coding the afterparty dlc script (we're about 80% of the way through)

mid-late january: code visuals & illustrate the dlc

end of january: brief playtest run to squash bugs

february: release afterparty dlc (spoiler alert lol)

after this, i'm going to take a little break so i can think about other things that aren't artemis and their sexual tendencies HAHAHA i think i'll probably get back into game dev by late march/early april. here are my tasks for then:

late march/early april: release small quality of life update for kurou connect (this will mostly be art stuff)

mid/late april: setup patreon tiers for levels of game access

june: begin work on kurou connect in earnest!

keep in mind that i'm lowkey a huge liar (sorry) and things get moved around all the time because it's just me working on these things, hahaha, but this is the hope. i'm not sure the actual timeline of the kurou connect's development but hopefully this year i'll have some nice updates for everyone!

Are you still working on Kurou connect?

not actively right now, since i'm working on the cryptid coffeehouse dlc, but i hope to get back into working on kurou connect after i take a little break post-dlc release. i talked about my future plans for kurou connect a bit in this faq i posted back in october! i'm not sure how long of a break i'm going to take before i start working on another project, but hopefully by the latter half of 2026 i'll have some new things to give y'all in the kurou department.

yes, absolutely! i talked a bit about it in the faq i posted a little bit ago, and i've talked about the general structure i intend to build & release kurou connect in in this ask from last november.

i might take a short break between releasing the afterparty dlc and beginning work on the next kurou connect update, but honestly lol i've been taking so long to finish the afterparty dlc that i might just dive into it because it'll be a whole new project and might feel more refreshing, hahaha

Totally thinking of making my Kurou Connect mc really good at boxing/ martial arts. Would Kurou ever come watch them fight? Would he be shocked when he first finds out they can fight? Like Mordag or Artemis ask Kurou to stop at (insert whatever gym they're training at) because mc has something of theirs and when he walks in mc is just kicking ass in one of those training rings

i answered an ask a while ago about something similar!!

in the context of kurou connect, he would be very hesitant to ever get into a physical fight with you because of this (because he can fight, but it's like... rough and dirty. like an inexperienced high school bully), so he'd just spend a lot of his time being a verbal nuisance, much to everyone's chagrin.

he would come to watch you fight, though, particularly if your other friends were going to watch & support. you guys may despise each other but you are still kinda sorta friends after all. would he be shocked? i don't think so; he knows the kurou connect mc for a pretty long while before the game's story starts, so it would be bizarre if he didn't know about your hobby.

deep down, he'll find your displays of physical strength very attractive, which would simultaneously piss him off and do something for him... lmfao. that'd be something he wouldn't want to think about for a long while considering the fact that the two of you are like mortal enemies.

Has mr nasty had any wet dreams about mc before the events of Kurou connect? If yes what was his reaction?

specifically in the timeline of kurou connect? this is a really interesting ask because it actually depends on what route you take within the game. obviously i haven't written the bulk of it, but there are two particular routes that occur depending on the things that you do during the course of the first half of the game. there's a route where you find out that he's always had a crush on you, which is why he acts like a total dick (in order to hide his feelings), and there's a route where you flirt with him enough that he's really curious about what your deal is that he comes onto you (or the other way around).

i think if we consider these scenarios in this context, we have to think about kurou's sexual personality. he has a high sex drive and has a tendency to get off on pretty much anything that turns him on, and he's canonically attracted to all of his friends in some capacity because he doesn't really see the point of having friends if he's not lol. but i don't think he would have a wet dream about one of his friends unless they did/said something that REALLY turned him on and he couldn't stop thinking about it. i've frequently discussed the wet dreams he's had about artemis in my discord server and it's talked about in this fic quite a bit.

okay now that we've covered that, i think we can break down this ask hahaha. the context is important!

if we're in the scenario where he comes on to you as a result of you flirting with him, it's out of curiosity and not because he's had feelings for you beforehand, despite thinking that you're attractive or whatever. so he wouldn't have had a wet dream about you in that case. however... if we're in the scenario that he's had a crush on you for a long time and has been trying to hide it for the longest, then absolutely yes he's had a wet dream about you before. when he has a crush, it kind of consumes him and all he can do is think about you, and he spends a lot of time ogling you when he thinks you're not looking. being alone together is torture because he's hyperaware of everything. like his thought process goes like, gods, you smell so good and you look so good and you're so close and fuckkkk he's going to beat off so hard to the memory of this when he gets home LMFAO

i don't think he would even try very hard to have a wet dream about you, because honestly, i think his big feelings realization would be BECAUSE of a wet dream about you. he would wake up all sweaty and gross and be like, "okay, well, fuck i guess i like them then. whatever. fuck me."
