hello! how do you think kixis would respond to someone who flirts back with him very earnestly, like its definitely flirting but its wayyyyy softer then anyone would expect. i know that in the kokix post you talked about kixis never really expects people to flirt back with him, and gets really flustered when they do, so what would he think of someone responding to his flirting with almost straight up acting like they’re a couple now? (kisses on the temple, whispering to him if they’re leaving for a second and asking if he wants anything, shit like that)

i am disproportionately in love with kixis for how little screen time he gets in cc, but he’s so silly i love himmmmmmm

bye he would totally die. at first, he would be incredibly confused because what on earth are you doing? and he would always be going frozen still when you touch him. i think it would take him a while to realize what your intentions are, but once he does, he'll become a flustered, blushing mess. it's kind of funny because he always likes to talk so big and bold with people but is a toooootal loser when it's returned to him. i think it would be very very easy for him to fall for you after that, even if he never had a crush on you originally (which honestly he rarely ever has crushes on people he flirts with, it's kind of like an impulse he can't control. surely there's something in his subconscious that makes him act like this... i could go on about this)

but anyway, yeah, this'll absolutely wreck him. he would probably start trying to avoid you because he'll get so flustered about it lol but it seems like you'd be the type to be quite persistent. he'd think about you and your behavior a lot in the time he's not around you, which is kind of a bad thing because he'll start to avoid you as much as he can once he feels that real crush starting to creep up on him. fight or flight and all that hahaha

Hi! Returning player here, I didn't know there was a new dlc let's gooooooo but I can't believe I just missed the Steam Summer sale ToT I want to support you and all the effort you put in to make the dlc of course, but do you know if it'll go on sale again for the steam winter sale, or earlier maybe? Idk if creators choose that or if it's a steam thing. Anyway very exciting to replay the base game and hope to try the dlc eventually I just need to save up and a sale would help that's all thank you!

it will go on sale again soon! there's the steam autumn sale in october (which i will also transfer over to itch), then after that i'll do another sale for artemis' birthday in november before the winter sale in december. so the latter half of the year will be pretty stacked up with price cuts ^_^

i know u havent talked about this in a while but the fact that there's so much subtext about artemis grieving their mom every moment of every day gives them so much more depth, i love the way you wrote them thank you so much

(┬┬﹏┬┬) thank you for such kind words!! one of the things that was most important to me when writing cryptid coffeehouse was trying to make sure that artemis never seemed one-dimensional. i feel like, at their core, they're a pretty standard character archetype (the spacey, easy-going musician), but i wanted to make them so much more than that. loading the game with friends for them to interact with helped flesh them out, especially for players who don't particularly care to analyze narrative subtext too deeply. but for those who do, i really wanted there to be something you can dig through, something really messy and raw that makes you realize— oh, that's why they're like this. that's why our relationship is like this.

grief is a really sticky thing to write correctly/convincingly, and i can't exactly say that i've written it from any personal experience, so i was really testing the waters as the game went on. i feel as if you can gain a lot of perspective into the type of person artemis is if you look at the game through the lens of their grief, or maybe instead in their attempts to heal from it, so i'm glad that it was successful and impactful for you! artemis is really dear to my heart and i'm glad their character strikes a chord with you in whatever way that may be.

Yk after the awkward run in w Albie in the library, I was thinking what would happen if Arty n their partner ran into Yaritza like gimme all the drama (pls n ty) 😛😛

wow, i actually think it would be so much worse than the awkward situation with albie, mostly because yaritza is actually successful and doing important, big things. it was weird with albie because that breakup was still in recent memory and concerned things that they were actively still part of (read: the band), but it's worse with yaritza because they broke up with her. recall the reason that they did this was because they felt like a loser compared to her, like they would bring her down as a person and a student because of the way they are. seeing her successful so many years later would almost confirm this for them— like, i broke up with her and now that my bad habits can't rub off on her, she's doing so well and achieving her dreams, that just means i was the problem all along and i'm going to end up doing this to everyone else i know.

obviously, artemis is giving themself way too much credit here, because yaritza would've succeeded with or without them. she's just that kind of person. but as we all know, artemis has a horrible habit of getting in their head about everything and thinking every situation is their fault somehow. that combined with the fact that they can't ever seem to figure out what they want to do with themself would be a deadly mixture. i'd imagine they'd spiral a bit after seeing her, even if it was a completely innocuous and brief meeting.

you, on the other hand, would most likely take quite the shining to yaritza. she's a nice girl! and she always treated artemis kindly when they were dating. you don't have resentment for her like you do albie.

i've been wanting to write something about artemis being jealous as well, but i've been trying to figure out how to make their jealousy and possessiveness to be more endearing rather than frustrating. i feel like in real life, it's sometimes so annoying to have a partner who gets easily jealous, so trying to walk the line of fantasy vs reality is difficult. i do always try to write them so that they know that they're being kind of unreasonable with their jealousy because of this though. like, at least they're self-aware about it! but i'm keeping it in mind 😋😋

you know it's funny, i actually have so much less backstory & lore for armelian than i have for jj, who doesn't have much backstory either lol. i haven't really thought about what kind of story the two of them would have within the cryptid coffeehouse universe yet since they used to have their own whole separate story when i was younger, but i think i'm going to sneak them into kurou connect and this other game i want to make about taz. armelian is friends with a couple other alternative folks in town, one of those being laine (the vampire who is dating jaxeon's twin brother zee and is the son of the people who own webbe's) if any of you guys remember them. there are a lot of nonsense side characters in the cryptid coffeehouse universe hahaha.

as for what i do have about her, she works at that late night diner you went to in the dlc and spends the majority of her time outside of work coding mildly harmful computer viruses, urban exploring, and going to goth clubs with her friends. jj has a crush on her, which she knows about, but she doesn't like him and sometimes can barely tolerate him as a coworker haha. instead, she has a crush on this suuuper goth dude in her friend group who also happens to be friends with taz! armelian just likes to get into good-natured trouble most of the time, which is how she discovers jj's similar habit of getting into good-natured trouble in abandoned buildings and such, but i'm still ironing out what i want all of that to look like :3

So like from the dlc we know that they don't rlly use those typa toys when they're in a relationship n stuff, but I was scrolling thru their NSFW alphabet n it was talking abt how they (rarely) watch prorn n all, so what r bros priorities ygm 😭 like how can one not use toys but get off to ppl on the Internet if that makes sense? Ik a lot of ppl consider it normal to watch inside of a relationship n all (which is fine if both parties agree to it) but it kinda feels like a form of microcheating if it's behind ur partners back imo? Idrk if this makes sense but like would they be the type to watch it in a relationship behind ur back or sum or like would u gotta have a convo abt ts? Or would they js not watch it at all whilst being in a relationship?

they don't watch porn when they're in a relationship! i know some people do and it's fine in some relationships, but they're personally not super crazy about it. what i meant in the nsfw alphabet was that if they aren't in a relationship, sometimes they'll watch porn, but it's very rarely. like once in a month or two rarely. what they prefer to do is get off to the thought of you, or maybe memories of things you two have done together. if you guys aren't together and they have a pretty decent crush on you, they'll spend a lot of time imagining situations and such, which does make them a little bit of a pervert lol but hey, what can you do. porn is generally a pre-relationship last resort, if that makes any sense.

artemis loves to put their contact for you as "baby" with an assortment of emojis that remind them of you, or they'll put your name with a bunch of exclamation marks after it. or maybe even a good old kaomoji like (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) or (˶ > ₃ < ˶)

kurou doesn't typically set any custom names for anyone in his contacts (unless that person did it themselves), so you're just gonna be saved under your name. either that or you're going to be saved under [first name] (artemis' friend) until you notice that's your name in his phone even though you guys have been dating for 3 years. what he will do, though, is give you a contact photo. he doesn't give people contact photos, but he'll give you one because you're special hehe

Is there anyway for us chrome users to play cryptid coffeehouse? (Sorry if I misspelled that-) Steam doesn't run on chrome, and at least for me I can't download any games on Itch, only play in browser.

I really loved Kurou Connect and I am excited for the full game, and I really want to play Cyrptid Coffeehouse.

hello! i just bought and finished the afterparty dlc and adored it, i replayed it almost 4 times and every time felt genuinely unique and worth playing over and over to see all the dialogue.

im also super excited for kurou connect to start up again (even if im sure thats much later in the year) and have had brain worms about him ever since replaying the game for the dlc.

i wanted to ask, what would kurou think if the Kc!Mc was also a singer/songwriter and wrote songs about him (they never actively say that the songs are about him, but the whole group know’s theres no one that elicits those emotions in them except for kurou.)

bonus ask of what if they preformed at a small gig (house party or something) and sang another song about kurou, but this one is super obliviously about them being pissed that they’re in love with him (i feel like mc would have only invited one or two of the ppl from the friend group, but those people invited kurou along so they’re fully unaware he’s in the crowd and hearing everything they say)

now... as for your question! kurou, being kurou, would totally use this against you, because obviously your feelings are as clear as glass and he really won't be able to control himself when it comes to teasing the shit out of you about it. i think he would like to be less obvious that he knows about how you feel about him, but you know. he's kurou. most likely, he's going to be intentionally vague and weird when he brings it up, something like, "i bet whoever you're singing about is really thrilled, huh?" and then look at you in a way that kind of makes your heart spike because does he know? surely he doesn't know. there's no way he knows (he knows)

i feel like because everyone else also knows and is probably trying to keep it on the down low for your sake, you're probably going to get this feeling that everyone seems to know something that you don't, and you'll notice that kurou looks at you a lot harder than he normally does... but, hey, maybe he's doing that because you've got schmutz on your face LOL

I’m LITERALLY dying of curiosity if you don’t mind me asking so when we go to check on Artemis in their room after their fight with nevaeh and like after a couple of choices they say we don’t even know them and the mc starts getting up and heading for the door I’m wondering if we didnt go comfort them when they started crying and we immediately left before they could how’d the situation play out after we left

/ also the dlc was MAD worth it omfg I love Artemis sm not to mention the artstyle 😛

this is a great question! honestly, if i was a more evil person, i would've allowed for you to actually get odina to take you back home, but in doing so, it would've totally screwed up the intended timeline for the rest of the game as i was trying to end it on a happy note, haha. if you really had gotten fed up with the way artemis was speaking to you and gone home, i really believe that it would've sent your and artemis' relationship into quite a spiral— one that, depending on the kind of person you are, might've pretty easily caused a premature split.

i don't want to focus too much on what i think mc would do because at the end of the day, that's you, and i think all of you have a different way you would react to such a tense situation (which is why there's an option for you to get into that argument with artemis if you want to).

what i can do is speak on how artemis would feel about this... in short, it would be very, very bad 😭 they would feel humiliated by the fact that you had witnessed them get into such a volatile interaction with nevaeh, especially considering that the two of you lowkey just started dating, even if you guys have known each other for a while anyway. they would feel so frustrated with themself for breaking down and snapping at you, and i think that frustration and humiliation would very easily become strong guilt and self-hatred. the fact that you left would feel SO much like what happened with albie (recall that they broke up after an argument that artemis started) and they would be like, fuck, this is totally happening all over again and it's all my fault, but even worse because my family is here and everyone saw that and everyone knows and i really am the worst... mc and i shouldn't even be dating in the first place because all i do is fuck things up. obviously, you as mc probably don't feel like this, but artemis would withdraw so much after this that i think it would be very difficult to (1) get them to talk about what happened at a later day and to (2) stop them from breaking up with you lol.

i think only if you were the type to be very insistent and to really attempt to pry them apart, you might be able to save the relationship, but it really depends on how you would move in a situation like this! even so, i think artemis would be quite closed off for a while after this, purely out of embarrassment and guilt.
