Keahu posted that to his twitter. Because they changed locations where they film the school so he said this is his theory on what happened to Danny.

Where is Danny ?

So I was at the convention The Full Moon Is Coming Back by Royal Events in Toulouse with Charlie and Max Carver, Holland Roden, Melissa Ponzio and Linden Ashby this week-end, and during a pannel, I asked "Where is Danny ? And what happened to Keahu ?".

If I can sum up what they answered, I would say that they believe Danny has never left Beacon Hills, he is still in town, at school, but Jeff Davis simply didn't show him. As they knew Keahu still wanted to be on Teen Wolf, they said that nobody leaves the show for no reason, which means he could totally reappear whenever ! Linden also really wanted to say that we should never make assumptions about what could happen to the characters of Teen Wolf, because it's Teen Wolf, anything could happen !!
