I think I'm the opposite of some people on here, I adore flowery writing. I don't think I'm in any place to criticise or have icks on writing, I haven't written any kind of creative writing myself since I was in university, but to me, when there's a "lack" (I suppose) of descriptive language, it feels almost like a bullet point list to me? If that makes sense. All writing is amazing though, props to anyone who does it, I read everything.

i agree and my intent wasn't to come off like i was insulting anybody's writing, like i said i think the writing on here and some of the best i've seen in any online space. the critiques were more things i wanted to avoid when writing new things (i.e. cliches and such). i find writing so impressive and i've read writing on here i could only dream about writing myself. it's such an act of labor. i don't mean to discourage anyone from writing because some of these peeves that we've discussed can be my favorite things to read about. so, yeah, everyone keep writing.
