♔ Smooth Moves :: Velanna
Garrett was drunk, ass down in a puddle of what fortunately didn't smell like urine in a back alley a stone's throw from the Hanged Man. Somehow, a bar stranger's request that he help move some furniture in the dead of night hadn't rung as odd, and in the midst of passing a large crate from the back of a truck into his abrupt employer's waiting hands, a raid had come down upon them.
Lyrium, most likely. In the crates. Smooth, Hawke.
Running and hiding from the Templars had always been complicated. But as the day on which he would leave for the Deep Roads Expedition drew near, Hawke's anxiety over the matter had doubled. The last thing he needed was either to lose the opportunity by being some combination of incarcerated, tranquil and dead, or to leave for the expedition with his family in even greater danger than his absene already would by inviting above-average Templar attention.
Of course, the likelihood that his identity would be traced to those of Bethany and Carver were slim as the Knights had no idea who he was.
Yet.
But he wasn't exactly an inconspicuous fellow, and there was always the possibility that they could find out who he was after the fact without ever needing to take a gander inside his wallet.
He'd attempted to slip the Knights without being seen, but they'd noticed the silhouette, at least, of an enormous man lumbering into the dark, and he could hear them drawing nearer. And the closer they came, the more his options ran out.
Maker, it would have been convenient to be able to turn into say, a dragon, and fly away just then.
