LOVE...not just in the movies

I´m so thankful for SKAM and Isak&Evens story, and Yousef & Sana. Just made me feel so emotional, I finally got to let out emotions that I have mostly kept inside. I fell in love with my man when I was 16, and it just was 100% certain we would never gonna be together.  But our story turned out so epic, and romantic, we just think its to cheezy to remind us or others. I´ve kept him as a secret so long (6years), it still feels weird to tell others about how we met and kept contact over th years. And now here we are today, we met 14 years ago, and have been a couple for 8 years and it still feels like the honeymoon phase. I´m just so blessed, and greatfull, and wondering every day how I could get so lucky to enjoy it with my hubby. And wanna wish you all the best of luck to find your way in life and your soulmate and just enjoy this live together. Livet er NÅ! <3

Section 4: Emotions

A problem that definitely matters to me in this section is not being able to display enough emotion through what you’re actually feeling due to pent up emotions and wanting to put on a facade. This is a personal issue that I have gone through, and many others my age go through currently.

According to William James, an American philosopher, when a person is unhappy, gloom seems to settle over everything he or she does. This turns into the ripple effect of our lives. Making everything seem like there is some type of malice behind it.  Not completely cynical, but placing an idea in their heads that affects how they think overall. Personal things like stress, anxiety, and depression may cause this in a person. “Anxiety makes it harder to try new things, to take risks in your work or personal life, or sometimes to even leave your house. Many people with anxiety feel caged in. They see things they want to do in life but their anxiety keeps them from trying”(RecoveryWays.com). For teenagers and young adults, it may be managing school work with the tasks of everyday life and their mental health. From personal experience, I can say this is a tiring task, especially if you let it get our of hand. 

The way I dealt with this when I was going through it was different methods of therapy and reevaluating my values in life. I did not have money to go to actual therapy but I used various methods to calm me down and balance my emotions so I didn’t have to be putting on a facade. The professional way more people can deal with this issue among the public is getting counseling or going to the root of the problem. Seeing a psychiatrist may help with the struggle of emotions and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

Section 3: Psychological Needs

A great amount of people lack the ability to find a type of motivation that may work for them to want to be successful or keep going. Finding what type of motivation that fits best with how someones life works can be hard, so it tends to be a problem for some of the population. 

Everyone has basic survival motives, but some do not have motives to continue living on. This may be because of past experiences and the current environment around them and they’re beliefs aren’t yet determined. “Some people are simply deprived of all stimulation. The desire for stimulation are known as stimulation motives and include activity, exploration, and manipulation of the environment.”(Holt McDougal: Psychology Principles in Practice-Textbook-) When people have an absence of stimulation, it’s called sensory deprivation. All people seek sensory stimulation, but some people seek it more than others. Which is what may also contribute to the problem of people not having enough of a drive, or no drive at all, to pursue what they want. Some who want more stimulation cannot obtain it, causing them to feel sluggish and as if they cannot achieve anything because of their standards. 

Everyone who struggles with finding their motive to succeed or do better in life in general, will need to find what method works best for them. There is essentially a motive for everyone to go by and live by. This can be by achievements or stimulus motives. Achievement motives can also push a person to understand how they want to be successful or why they need to be so they can be. There are intrinsic and extrinsic rewards that people usually get satisfied by. Extrinsic are mainly things such as good grades, a good income, and respect from others. Intrinsic rewards are more internal, like self satisfaction and fulfillment. These allow of people to have a drive where they know they are getting something in reward that is beneficial to their lives, hence them having a drive to be successful in whatever they may pursue.

Section 2: Focus on Hunger

Obesity is not only becoming more common in the United States, but across all countries. Our food intake has drastically grown three times than it was in 1970.(Pew Research Center) More and more children are growing up overweight and becoming more unhealthy as time goes on. This would be considered the apart of the hunger drive, and this hunger drive that is causing people to be overweight, and sadly, obese is becoming a global problem. 

Heredity plays a part in the obesity crisis, because some people are born with more fat genes than other people. This causes them to feel hungry sooner than people with fewer fat cells, even if they are the same weight (Holt McDougal Psychology: Principles in Practice Textbook). Psychological and personal factors may also play a role. Stress or negative emotions may cause a person to eat more along with ignoring the diet when they do certain things.

Encouraging people to lose weight and keep the weight off is an obvious solution. People can use a well planned diet and exercise regularly. Implementing for exercise in the school environment is also a great way to start because obesity is rapidly becoming more common in younger children. “Studies conducted over the past 40 years suggest that exercise in the classroom may help students stay on task and have a better attention span.”(Healthline.com) Starting exercise in class also helps grades and it ensures a healthier future. Overall, to defeat the amount of increasing cases of obesity and all that comes along with it across the world, our focus should be on having more outside activities for the public and promoting the management of health.

Section 1: The Psychology of Motivation

A problem I identified is people in our world currently not being able to climb up Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs due to roadblocks in their current life situations. For example some people may be stuck on a certain part of the hierarchy and have the feeling that it is not possible for them to reach self actualization.

Most people try to focus on the essentials first, which is at the bottom of the hierarchy such as physiological and safety needs. Obviously this needs to be focused on for one to be able to climb higher on the ladder or else they would feel incomplete or wouldn’t be able to get to that place on the ladder in general.

The part of the population who have no hope regarding reaching self-actualization can establish homeostasis on the regular, and realize that their purpose is much more than fulfilling their basic needs. “Science has found that the source of motivation comes from the part of the brain known as the nucleus encumbers. It’s in the small section where neurotransmitters send chemical messages to the rest of your body. It’s these neurotransmitters that keep us alert, focused, and that part of the brain influences things like completing a project or going to the gym.”(Entrepenuer.com) They’ve essentially lost the drive to chase another hunger which was striving to become something or do something meaningful in one's life, and decided that the day to day life they live cannot be improved, almost like a road block. To fix this issue, more motivation needs to go out to the public to ensure them that they have the ability to go for something that allows for an elevation of their current living situation. Like the quote was stating, neurotransmitters send chemical messages to the rest of our body. Finding a way to make it so that those neurotransmitters are up and working may be the best solution for someone to find the type of motivation that works best for them and climb up the hierarchy to reach their full awakening as a person.

Unit 13: Motivation and Emotion (Quick Analysis before Breakdown)

I read and analyzed all of the sections of Unit 13 and I noticed that the whole unit is about how humans are motivated by different motives which they have personally and they can fall into different categories. These motives can be put on a hierarchy and can go from psychological needs to self-actualization needs. A main drive that people may get absorbed in is the drive of hunger and many can get too absorbed in it and develop health problems(but we’ll elaborate on that don’t worry). People also have psychological needs which they need to tend to in order to be successful in a portion or all of their life. We also learn to handle our emotions and there are many theories as to why we feel certain emotions when we do. 

I found this Unit to be extremely interesting while reading it, and I learned many new things about the psychology of many of these topics, and some new sides of myself that I never really payed attention to.
