Whenever I take brief breaks to rest my ears from long days of writing, composing, & mixing music & to rest my back, I use the minutes to eat a bit or watch the news or something I’m streaming on Netflix or Hulu. I must give it up to Keith Knight & cast of “Woke”. One of the most brilliant depictions of reality today. I’m only on episode 3, but the scene where Keith drives for a Ride Share company was on point. I drove for Uber/Lift in LA for a quick minute prior to Covid19 back in 2016. It truly amazed me how some non-PoC treated me. Many thought I was a foreigner who didn’t speak English; while some had the audacity to ask me if I owned the Volvo I drove, which of course I did. One night I was listening to my own music I wrote & composed & a “White” young lady asked me if I was listening to my favorite Artist. Then when I mentioned it’s actually me we were listening too; she was like speechless. Ever since then, I no longer drive to make ends meet & trust me; I’m “Woke”. Just saying...
