Challenge 4 - One line Logo

Challenge 4: “You’ve been asked to submit an identity design for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The initial sketch of your logo must be composed from a single, unbroken line. Once you’ve placed your pen or pencil down on the page, you can’t take it off the page until the logo is complete. Don’t go back for corrections--embrace mistakes.” David Sherwin, Creative workshop.

Time Limit: 30mins.

When I started this challenge, I didn’t have a concept of what the logo will look like. I was more focused on experimenting with the single line concept and how I could draw a continuous line without stopping. I knew the logo should communicate the Olympics but I was more focused on drawing a shape and making it work near the end. 

Try 2: As I sketched, I started thinking of pillars and felt they somehow communicated the spirit of the Olympics. I found it hard to draw the pillars in a single, unbroken line so I started experimenting with soft, curved lines

Try 3: When I decided to go with the curved lines, I ended up with these shapes. 

Thoughts

Overall, this challenge was pretty interesting. It had a short timespan compared to the others, and it was fairly challenging given the constraints I had to work within.

The Kekeli Women are traditional birth attendants (TBAs) that have been trained by AMURT's maternity health program. This is a participatory film by the Kekeli Women of Volta Region of Ghana, which tells the story of their training and the problems their community faces.
