Hot Take of the day - the rest of Thedas loves to trash Ferelden for their 'non-spicy' food but while peppercorn and chili peppers have to be imported and are usually only affordable for nobles, horseradish is probably the common folk's spice to go. And they make some mean mustard (Probably a leftover from the orlesian occupation so a lot of them hated it at first, but it grew on them. Literally. That stuff grows at lightning speed.)
Nice! Food stereotypes are something I, for one, hadn’t considered yet.
I did some reading that leads me to think that Ferelden would have likely had the mustard plant already. I’m thinking they mostly used it for folk medicine until the Orlesian occupation spread the idea of using it as a condiment. That idea stuck around after the Orlesians were kicked out, because the Fereldans know a good thing when they see it.
Usually. A lot of people have gone back to eating with belt knives because the use of forks is seen as a poncy Orlesian habit.
