Oh Hello there rain....
So it was RAINING in Belfast, after trying to get into the Titanic Museum and failing miserably because it was too busy; we googled a good irish pub and found this treat called kelly’s Cellars… When entering we were greeted by a enthusiastic Irish man sipping on a pint and a Bacardi and coke( I know this because he offered my very very pretty friend Sam a wee sip) we sat in the corner sipping our beer, surrounded my wooden beams and pots and pans hanging from the ceiling, some time passed then a few men came in wearing waistcoats and carrying Instrument cases, ‘this looks promising’ I thought:... they bought their pints, then pulled out guitars and started playing, they weren’t booked as a band, they just sat in a corner of the pub and played. Then two more waistcoat-clad men came and one had a fiddle(this got me excited)… we moved into the room where they were playing so we could hear better, we started chatting, and they asked us about what we were doing and we explained we were singers, Ian got a guitar thrusted at him so he took up the challenge and did a lovely rendition of an american country song, he lost momentum after verse 3, maybe due to the strong beer, but was rewarded with claps and cheers from the fellas who were now munching on cheese and crackers … some time passed, I thought I had gotten away with not having to sing, Ian had taken the bullet for the both of us... but.... they started asking me what I could sing, we tried to find a song they could play for me, then one gentleman yelled ‘cry me a river’ and demanded me to sing it… unaccompanied….. crickey I thought… but what the hell, so I sang in this tiny pub and it all went a bit quiet and I felt a tad awkward, but did enjoy feeling part of the gang...
we stayed for a few more songs and we joined in on the we knew, even threw in a cheeky harmony, the pub slowly got busier but we had to leave to get back on the ship.
I do love an Irish accent and a Irish Pub.
