How do you get that cool coloured stroke effect?👀 If that's manually done u really are a God...
OH NO HAHA It’s definitely not done manually I think I’d cry doingthat for every line.. It’s a layer effect that I learnt about from another artist! I drew those in Clip studio but I’m pretty sure you can do the same in and program with a gradient map layer
1) Go to Layer > New correction layer > Gradient map
2) This will open up, and you can set whatever colours you want for the gradient. More colours = more shifts as you draw. I use a pink-blue one bc I like those colors together! IT IS IMPORTANT that you use a brush with opacity enabled, bc the shift in colours won’t work with a solid color. So for this set of colours: If I press hard I’ll get black-blue and if I press gently I’ll get yellow-pink
If you draw on a white canvas: set the lightest colour as white, or it will change the colour of your canvas
3) Arrange your layers like this:
and you’re good to start drawing on the sketch layer!!! IT works best if you use a dark colour to draw!
YOU CAN ALSO just draw normally and then put a gradient layer on after if you prefer! I just like seeing the shifts as I draw so I do it this way :D
do you know if theres a way to keep the gradient map on the lineart but still be able to have another layer under the lineart to color normally?
I’ve been trying to work it out myself but it doesn’t seem possible… Clipping the gradient map to the lineart doesn’t get the same effect for some reason?? It seems to need a white bg to get the full range of colours. I figured out a way to do it if the lines are set to multiply but it’s kinda tedious LOL
1) Create a white base for your lines by selecting the area outside of your lines > Selection/ selection area > Invert selected area > fill it with white on a NEW layer under your lines layer
2) Your layers should look something like this:
3) Clip your gradient map to your merged Lines+white base layer (You can merge the gradient map layer with with the new line layer if you don’t plan to edit it anymore)
THE layer with the lines MUST be set to multiply before you start colouring or the white base will get in the way.. Once that’s done, create a new layer under the new line layer and start colouring! :D
sorry if youve done this before but like could you explain whose who with you characetrs? 🥺 like little descriptions of them all and what stories their each in ? i always see sketches of them and i get more and more curious avout them
OF COURSE!!!!!!!! There isn’t really one fixed story because I typically draw them in different alternate universes but I’ll write a little on their general character/backstory :D
TYLER: Ginger, messy haired, green eyes, kinda always looks like :3He’s very charming and likable, and often uses this to get his way with people/ get out of troublesome situations. Is rather impulsive and reckless, and comes off as callous towards the consequences of his actions. He doesn’t like taking things too seriously (even when he should), but when he is sincere about something he’ll always give it his all. Treasures family and friends greatly!!!!!! His entire family died when he was a child, and it’s left him with a deep fear of being alone. He often gets attached to people for the wrong reasons as a means of dealing with this. Has self-destructive and addictive tendencies, and has difficulty admitting to needing help. He’s not insecure per se?? But he does have low self-worth in the sense where he thinks he’s not much more than a pretty face.
JC (john charles): Red-hair, neat, his forehead is always covered it must not be seen, violet eyes, REALLY TALL (6′7″) also he’s vonna’s OCVery serious looking and comes off intimidating, but he actually enjoys pulling pranks and fooling around. He tries hard to help anyone in need, though he is very pragmatic about it and will not sugar-coat the process. It’s not necessarily because he cares for these people, but more so simply because they need help and he is there. He doesn’t care for appreciation or reward really, he’s more than happy staying in the background. He’s not very emotive mostly because he rarely feels anything strongly enough to show it. He’s very patient, and rarely ever mad. If he gives up on someone or is upset about something, it’s probably over something really REALLY bad. He was a shy, overly enthusiastic nerdy child (still nerdy now though) who cried a lot, but had to grow up fast because of A TERRIBLE HORRIBLE INCIDENT THAT HAPPENS. Tries not to get too attached to people. Has a ‘whatever will be, will be’ attitude to things, and rarely ever tries to fight against the tide.
WADE: black-greying hair, grey eyes, never seems to shave properlyHe is TIRED and wants rest. He’s a very passive person and avoids taking on any responsibility as much as possible. If responsibility IS given to him though, he will GET THE JOB DONE NO MATTER WHAT (even if he’s grumbling while doing it). He likes being alone and would prefer it over almost anyone’s company. Doesn’t like to answer personal questions and will give a different answer every time.Most people think he’s unfriendly, but really, he’s just very very awkward.
PARISI: Blonde hair, brown eyes, hair swept to right side , vonna’s ocA man who seems too perfect to be true. He might be hiding dark secrets but it’s hard to say when one is being blinded by his perfect smile???? People around him look up to him because he always seems to know what he’s doing. He has that natural leader vibe about him. He likes taking care of others, and can be a bit overbearing sometimes. HE LOVES HIS SON!!!!! TO DEATH!!!!!!!!!!! AND HE WILL DO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!!! Wade and Parisi both used to be in the military together, where Parisi was wade’s superior.
CYRUS: CURLY black hair, dark souless eyes, dressed unnecessarily fancilyA MYSTERIOUS MAGICAL being who is pretending to be a normal human magician while trying to earn money to repay his debts. No one knows what these debts are because he never EVER talks about them. Is very unreliable and almost never shows up when he’s supposed to. Tries his best to act like a ‘normal’ human, but is terrible at it. All in all very suspicious…

hi anon! omg I think I’m terrible at drawing chars with distinct features so i can’t give much helpful advice on this 😭😭 I think it is good to look at real life photos of different people and draw from those rather than just relying on your imagination because (for me) I tend to fall back on a specific face I am comfortable with when drawing mindlessly. I have specific faces in mind for some of my ocs like emmett, fay and cyrus but the rest of them look like this in my head LOL
I’ll get back to u with some artists that I feel do different facial features well, but at the moment I really like how 11thsense draws faces!! And i also think Naoki Urasawa is rly good at doing simple but distinctive faces
