The Ancient Curio
The last clue provided to the group had been to investigate Stranglethorn Vale. But something else had been asked of the huntress in the region by Erazeran. Thick vegetation and tropical climates anxiously greeted her as she emerged from the rift formed by chronomancy.
Appearing healthier and stronger than she had the day before, Gaia held onto her bow before hurrying past the trunks of trees to what remained of Zul’Gurub. Troll hexes and voodoo had never been a laughing matter, as it required a certain diligence and approach to theft near the altars. The High Priests that lingered had kept their relics protected with ancient magics in order to continue attempts in restoring the Blood God, Hakkar.
Approaching the blood stained altar between two snake like statues - Gaia settled her attention on a collection of discs. The letters inscribed upon the rings were not any that she was familiar with, but she had a task to retrieve them. Producing a vial of what looked to be hourglass sand, she tipped the magical enchanted particles over the surface of the relic. As magical sand descended in slow motion, she watched as time began to rewind within the small space of the altar. Every now and then, transparent hands would ghost over the rings as shadow magic seemed to ebb out from rings.
But eventually the magic that imbued the relic began to go back towards the hands that were positioned above it. This was the moment where the magics were exacted to their place of origination. Using a series of deft motions and a sleight of hand, the rings were taken and replaced. Upon her touch however, she’d feel a cold chill ride up her spine.
A butterfly with brilliant white wings flapped upwards from the center of the rings and immediately dissolved into nothing. The warning in itself - was enough to impose what the rings would do to someone if they had kept hold on the relic for too long. Stashing the Ancient Troll Curio in her bags, she’d flee Zul’Gurub.
Several days later...
The melodious and gentle chime of the N’aaru awoke the sleeping Draenei, Kelyra. Having been contacted through her dreams, she knew that the beings of light had been worked up about something. The visions she dreamed about did not tell much outside a location within Stormwind City.
Standing upright the Draenei armored herself before heading to the location her dreams foretold of a dark revelation. Reality didn’t really catch up until a guard entered the nearby establishment. The air that had hung around the Draenei suddenly drew cold as a dark light emanated from within the doorway of the building.
Compelled to face what evil might linger in the building, Kelyra moved to the door and drew her sword and shield. To her surprise - the guard was no longer before her, but a demon had taken his stead. Appearing paralyzed, the demon didn’t move as Gaia presented the collection of rings. The center most portion had begun to spun, followed by the second, and the third. Kinectic magical motion kept the bands circling one another before the demon was dissolved into nothing.
Kelyra clutched her shield and sword more - uncertain how to proceed with the epiphany of the evil she witnessed. Though, the huntress didn’t wait for the Draenei to start asking questions as she fled the scene. The artifact having been taken as well was considered for a long moment, but it was clear the Draenei had an idea what it was.
