Kemp Starrett: Vignettes of Life

(With thanks to Steve Cottle and Van Reid): A sample 'Vignettes of Life' strip by Kemp Starrett, a US newspaper cartoonist and comic strip artist, mainly active in the 1930s.

Lambiek Comiclopedia notes he was staff cartoonist at the Brooklyn Eagle, New York Herald Tribune and, most notably, the Philadelphia Public Ledger. His credits include the 'Roy Powers, Eagle Scout' strip during the first year of its run, until it was taken over by Frank Godwin, another artist for the Ledger.

He also worked on features like 'Babe Bunting' and 'War On Crime', but his longest running series was 'Vignettes of Life', above, which he drew from 1939 to 1952, apparently taking this strip over from Godwin.
