It’d probably have to do with summoning creatures that fight and cast spells for us.
Hah, it probably is as close to a super power as we could have... But I dunno, aren’t those supposed to be really out of this world in terms of cool? Like speed so fast, you’re in another country in a matter of seconds?
Of course you’d go for that...
Would that even work? Wouldn’t Yosuke-kun just bash his head really hard in the nearest building like this? Or does the perception of the surroundings change with the amount of speed you travel...?
... Look, it just sounds cool, OK? I know it’s not happening, so you don’t need to rationalize it...
*ZIP*
Super Hero Teddie, reporting for duty! And since I’m a super-bear already, I don’t need any more super powers!
Huh, super power.. I dunno... It’s more like, bein’ super is nice, being able to pack a super punch on the face of who damn well deserves it...But it ain’t that necessary? I mean, I do that now, and if they ain’t thinking it hurts, I’m just gonna punch ‘em some more, and that’s it.
If you could, like, have a super power on being good at something, that’d sound better...
Huh... I actually thought we’d go over super strength and super vision and all those common, ideal ones, if only to have a laugh at the thoughts, but you guys sure are... hmm... mature about it.
“Mature” may be right... I’d imagine it’s due to the nature of our powers. Unlike in comics, where the heroes have to learn how to deal with their powers directly in their worlds, ours was a much more controlled environment and we were always striving towards solving the case and stopping the attempted murders, having just the right amount of power to face whatever we needed to in order to go one step further...
I think it made for just the right way for us to experience it and respect the fact that is very much a “special” power. As for super powers, though, I’m wary to say anything.
It’s hard to tell how much is too much with a word like “super” thrown into the mix. And too much power can be dangerous in its own right.
What is your stand on all the Marie hate that's been getting stronger as of late?
It's absolutely unjustified and just another reason why I'm not especially fond of the Persona Fandom anymore (not that it was ever one of my favorite fandoms to be in to begin with.) Marie has pretty much become to Persona Fandom's Version of what Xion is to the Kingdom Hearts Fandom, and the KH Fandom's treatment of Xion was a huge reason why I mostly deserted that Fandom, despite still really loving the games. Like, I still love so many people in the Persona Fandom, but I just see a lot of worrying tendencies that make it hard for me to enjoy a lot of fandom discourse here.
The "Canon Mary Sue" accusation is one of the most immature tendencies a Fandom can show, especially given that "Mary Sue" is a term that
A) in its original nature contradicts the usage in relation to canon so deeply that everyone who uses it that way should really think twice and trice about what they are even trying to say
B) has lost all its meaning by now and derailed into a cheap way of saying "I don't like this character, so nobody else has a right to like them either.
In other words, I am personally of the opinion that the term "Mary Sue" needs to be removed from Fandom vocabularies once and for all, because it's been utterly destroyed by now.
Marie is a completely normal Persona character, whose sole "sin" is having been added in retrospective - which is something authors have been doing with their works since the dawn of literature itself. She actually really added to the story's "choice" element in my opinion, so I am really glad she was in there. Plus, the game doesn't even force her on you; you can freely decide whether to involve her in the game or not, especially seeing how this game doesn't have any Orpheus Telos that could be screwed over by not doing Aeon Social Link. Heck, even the "gets in the way of ships" argument is ridiculous, since, like every other social link romance, dating Marie is entirely optional and any complaints about Marie forcing herself onto the protag also applies to Margaret and, to a lesser extent, Rise and Ai.
P4U2 only involves her as a plotdevice to explain what is standing in Kagutsuchi's way of freely killing everyone in Inaba and only gives her two scenes, which really aren't much, and makes her inclusion in the game, once again, optional.
PQ has Marie only as a side character, who's most important role is in a couple of sidequests, which are - once again - optional.
So, to sum up: The creators did their best to integrate Marie into canon without forcing her onto players who didn't know her on their first playthrough because they played Vanilla P4 first. And yet, some people still complain about the fact she exists. If that isn't supremely immature Fan behavior, I don't know what it is.
Are there any interesting conversations between Rise and Yukari since they are both the Lovers arcana.
They are good friends, but nothing really special or specific for them. The game doesn't really go by Arcana for this stuff. The only Arcana-relevant thing I do remember is the fact that Aigis and Marie had a character-relevant conversation.
I would like to say thank you for addressing all the problems with the fandom. I REALLY love persona, but it makes so mad how the fandom has been acting lately. Like they are mad because the FEMC isn't in persona q so they hate it, they are mad because all the different voice actors now, I just got over it in like 2 minutes, they are upset because PQ is canon now, that actually made me even more excited for the game. I would love to type more, but I want to once again say thank you.
your welcome I guess? though I'm updated with the fandom's idiocy since I stalk some forums. And its just that they're pretty, pardon my swearing, shitty in the brain. Unlike Japan, Eng VAs are often replaced, in fact US VAs are often replaced in US shows.
Also they have the gall to say that VA replacement is a sign of the P4 fatigue.
I jusy find it ironic that they suggest to hire a new seiyuu for Igor, because of the seiyuu's untimely death, and they can't accept a voice change? sheeesh
