holding my breath // kenny & korra
Kenny was familiar with the affects of wolfsbane in the bloodstream. The men and women who had kept Kyle and her captive for so many years administered it frequently to keep them subdued, especially on nights of the full moon. So when the omega woke with bleary vision, a screaming headache, and a rolling stomach, she knew she'd been hit with the poison. For a moment, she struggled to remember what had happened, where she'd been. Disoriented was a difficult place to be, and Kenny didn't deal well with uncertainty. A moment later, she became away of the burn in her wrists and ankles, realized relatively quickly that she was bound with silver. The panic set in, heavy and painfully hot in her chest. It constricted her lungs, made it difficult to breathe so the wolf began to pant, tears welling in dark eyes. She attempted to cry out, immediately going back to the bad place. Eleven years on the end of a chain. Eleven years of abuse, rape, miscarriages... She couldn't go back there. She couldn't go back there.
Eventually, Kenny's vision straightened and she managed to make out images through the tears. She wasn't alone in the darkness. There were faces... faces she knew. Scents she recognized as her own kind, her people. Her new pack. Leo-- Leo was here. And the tall boy from her building at the Sanctuary. Immediately, she began looking for Kyle, straightening herself up against the wall behind her so she might be able to get a better view of the dark space. No... Kyle wasn't here. She would have smelled him by now, would have felt him. But there was a familiar scent, almost overwhelming in its ability to comfort her. Then she realized... "Korra," she cried hoarsely, finding the beta slumped against the wall several feet away. It was difficult to move, bound as she was with silver, but Kenny couldn't sit still. She needed her friend. She needed a voice, a warm gaze. She needed to know that Korra was alright. The omega shuffled along on her knees, worming her way across the floor until she was pressed against her dear friend. "Korra, w-wake up," she begged quietly, her voice reduced to a whisper now. With her hands tied behind her back, Kenny didn't have many options, so nudged her nose gently against Korr's cheek. "Ple-ease, wake u-up..."
