I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone
Personal
I love being busy. Like, I spiral into severe anxiety and depression when I have nothing to do because I grew up in such a tumultuous, high stress life. So getting back into school this week felt amazing. California State Long Beach is GREAT. I'm starting my junior year with all my major prep classes (Intro to Marketing, Business Calculus, Business Communications, Advanced Interpersonal Communications, and Pagan Culture) which all have really great professors and easy to follow curriculum. My internship is going great as well, I went up to Hollywood on Friday to do some admin work before going to a wrap party for the YouTube series at a bar called Bigfoot West. And then there's a wedding in Malibu next Saturday 😁 The more I get into event production the more I love it. And if all that isn't enough, I'm joining a sorority soon! Info night is Wednesday and Recruitment is the weekend of the 12th (however I might end up joining a newly colonized chapter - there's just lots to consider). But all in all, my life is picking back up again and it sounds bad, but I'm sooooo relieved that summer is over. On to the next adventure 😊
My first day interning went sooooo fucking great.
Just...so great. I'm so fucking happy right now. Thank you universe/God/karma whatever for finally letting me have something go right in my life.
Day 2 // 6.22.15 The day began is some shitty motel in the middle of south-east Utah where we dragged ourselves out of bed after 4 hours of sleep, piled into the car, and got on the road to Denver. I had initially wanted to land in Nebraska, but we couldn't find a hotel for less than $150 + we wanted to explore Denver a little bit. As we drove up the I-191 I realized how beautiful Utah is. I had never been and was completely blown away by the scenery. We stopped at this rock formation with a huge eye-shaped hole in the rock face, hiked up, and just took in the view. About 2 hours later we hit Colorado and started driving through the mountains on the I-70. Once again, I was blown away by the scenery. Weaving through the mountains, following the Colorado River was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever done in my life. We stopped at a little rest spot to take some pictures and found this cute little park that has steps down into the river so we were able to put our feet in and relax for a few minutes. The river is extremely high since the Rockies are still melting, but that made it all the cooler of an experience. We finally made it into Denver by 8ish where we checked into our hotel, showered, changed, and hit the streets. First and foremost we went to a dispensary where I bought weed for the first time (yay me), then we went downtown or "Lo-Do" for a proper meal. We ate at The Kitchen Denver where we had some amazing mussels, chicken and potatoes, and a drink or two. We talked with the bartender about how he liked living in Denver because I honestly was loving the vibe. It felt like a mini-LA with no traffic, cleaner streets, and down-to-earth people. Like after dinner it was only 10:30 and the streets were literally empty so we just walked around, talking and site-seeing for about an hour. When we started getting tired, we went back to the hotel, sat in the parking lot, and got high as fuck before going inside to eat Oreos and watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Another great day on our cross-country road trip 😊
Shipping out to Electric Forest first thing in the morning! For those of you who don’t know yet, I’ll be going on a cross-country road trip starting from Los Angeles, California and ending at EF. But this road trip is so much more than just getting to the festival. I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon or eaten deep dish in Chicago, Bruce is turning 21 so we’ll be going through Colorado and Vegas to celebrate that, and I’ll also be visiting my mom and sister’s grave for the first time in 13 years. It’s going to be an amazing 12 days with just my boyfriend, myself, and any/all friends we make along the way, and I will be photo journaling the entire trip so all of you can follow along with us 😊
So today I just scored an internship/apprenticeship at one of LA's best event production companies called RedLight Special Events & Productions. The owner, Jen, has done everything from Grammy parties for Rihanna and Neyo, to record release parties for Mary J Blige, season wrap-up parties for Key & Peele, CSI, Bones and a bunch of other shows from Disney, Fox, Warner Brothers, NBC, Paramount, MTV, VH1, Bravo, E! and others. She even did a product launch event for Maybach as well as multiple Red Carpet Oscar Events. She just expanded her business to cover weddings as well, and now I'll be learning everything from the inside!! And in 6 months if I do well and don't fuck it up, I'll move up to her paid assistant. Hard work really does pay off guys 🙌🏻 PS I fucking love living in LA
