Me Staring up toward the burning ceiling of the barn, he gasped, pain shooting through his back. The last thing he remembered was running toward Caleb before the wind was knocked out of him and something hit him in the chest. As he remembered as if on queue pain shot through his chest. With difficulty he forced himself to move, turning over onto his stomach. The movement did not help him one bit. It only made the pain more intense. Willing himself forward he started to drag and pull himself through the barn as it was caving in, fire and wood threatening to do even more harm to him as he forced himself out of the barn before it could cave in entirely. Pulling himself over to the tall grass that had surrounded the barn Chase tried to hide himself. Dropping to the ground in exhaustion after another moment he passed out.
Purple She hated this feeling, absolutely hated it. She was 98% sure that she had never been this worried before in her life. As her hero sped down the drenched, muddy dirt roads of Ipswich, he mind was going a thousand miles an hour. The only thing on her mind was getting to that barn before chase could get himself hurt. At the sight of the infamous old barn up in flames, tears sprung to her eyes. Her hand instinctively switched gears and she slowly went off the road to search around the barn. She couldn't give up on him, even though by the sounds of their last meeting, he would have. He voice betrayed her as she let out a whimper from her throat, just a small, "Come on, Chase. Where are you?" The cackling and splintering of wood caught her attention, and her eyes flickered toward the barn. She changed gears yet again and went racing Down the hill to the barn, mud slapping at her back tires.
Me Getting only a couple of minutes to rest Chase was forced back to consciousness as pain continued to cut through his midsection. Unable to control it he moved to his side and curled up, hissing in pain. Knowing that his curling up wasn't making it any better. But it was just something he felt he needed to do. His arms wrapped around his midsection and he let out a sob, rolling his face into the faintly blood splattered grass by his head. He kept telling himself not to cry, that it was stupid to cry. He was a powerful witch. The most powerful, not a defenseless child as he had been years before " Stop crying! Get up!" He growled out at himself. Moving he had to force himself to uncurl and started to move again. He had to get away from the barn, away from Caleb seeing him. Letting out a strained breath he looked back at the barn, glaring briefly before dropping back down onto the ground. Gasping loudly, he was having trouble catching his breath, but who could really blame him. Chase had no clue how much heat he had even inhaled after being thrown back into the barn, into the fire.
Purple Throwing the car in park, she left it running, pointing the headlights toward the barn. "Chase?!" She yelled as she tried to find a way in. Her hands skimmed along the wet wood as she was instantly drenched from head to toe from the rain. But the sweltering heat coming from in front of her made her all the more eager to find him. She came to an area that wasn't in flames yet and threw the door open. Clasping her hand to her mouth as she couldn't help but cough from inhaling the hot and dirty smoke. "Chase!" She croaked, her eyes scanning the debris. Looking up, she knew the roof was going to cave in any second. Fighting as hard as she could to look as well as be aware of her surroundings, she made her way around the burnt up barn.
Me That didn't sound like Caleb. He blinked, looking up at the sky through blurred vision. His mind wasn't catching on how much time had gone by, or entirely about what he was hearing. It was in a sore of mode that told him to just keep crawling away. Because he had to get away from where he was. Mostly because Caleb would probably not waste any time to turn him over to the police. Then where would he be. Hearing his name he shushed it lightly from where he was, wanting the voice to just stop or it would give his position. Give off his status. Blinking then he realized he knew that voice and had to forced himself to rationalize enough to realize that they didn't know he was alive. His right hand twitched, a moment later spiders started to form in the grass. They moved out a moment later entering the barn. The magical creatures left a trail leading out of the barn toward Chase. They started to crawl up Kennedy's body until one crawled onto her neck and then quickly onto her face.
Purple
The prickling sensation up her neck, made her scratch at it instinctively. Once it slid onto her cheek, she let out a small scream as she raised her hand yet again to smack it off but she froze when she felt at least five more crawling up her leg. His name came off her lips quietly at first, then a little louder, then need and desperation dropped from her voice as she yelled his name and began tripping and fumbling in the direction of the spiders, letting the first one remain in her hand. "Chase?!" She cried out once again. When had she started crying this hard? She found herself out of the barn and struggling for air but still following the spiders.
Me Swallowing, Chase moved again. He pushed himself up a little, with the strength he had built up. Enough to push himself over onto his back. Letting out a few strained huffs of breath he closed his eyes letting the pain disappate from him from the movement. Hearing his name again his eyes shot open. At this point he was wondering if he were just hearing things. The fingers on his right hand twitched, controlling the spiders more. But the amount of Power it took to keep the creatures summoned was starting to wane. His eyes fluttered as he searched the sky, dazed. Swallowing again he heard someone walking quickly toward him and breathing harshly. Turning his head toward the noise he could see their form against the flames and burning barn " Kennedy? Why is--" Breathless he paused, gasping for air, blood dribbled from the side of his mouth. Chase shift again moving to push himself up into a sitting position " Did I hit my head too hard?" Watching a spider crawl over his left hand he frowned, noticing he couldn't feel it's legs against his skin.
Purple Finally, seeing a dark lump in the grass she sprints to him. "Chase! Oh my god" She runs and slides onto her knees in the mud to crouch beside him. Her hands shakily reach out for him but she pulls them back as her eyes wander up and down his body. "Hey hey. Look at me. You're going to be okay." The tears in her eyes were long gone in hopes of stopping them anytime soon. She let the spider back down into the grass. "Save your energy. You don't need the magic. I'm right here." She could only hope that he would find her words comforting. Looking into those eyes of his made her breath halt in her throat again. Seeing what light there was in them almost gone made her heart break. "Wh-what should I do?" She asks shakily, her voice threatening to give out again.
Me Gasping for air, rain water dripped down his face and off the ends of hair, leaving streaks through the soot that had smeared over him. When she asked for him to look at her he brought his eyes up to meet with hers but only for a moment before slumping weakly, swaying where he sat. The pain was starting to ease, not because he was no longer in pain, but most likely because he was going into shock because of how severe they were. Picking his head up he laughed mutedly "S o...close." He whispered, obviously a little out of his head. As Kennedy asked him what to do his eyes closed " Away...from Ipswich." Chase managed to tell her, knowing he couldn't be taken anywhere Caleb would easily find him and try to stop him. Slipping then he dropped back to the ground, laying on his back again, splattering mud and blood around him.
Purple "Y-yeah. Of course," she whispers, looking around frantically before looking back down at him. "I ... oh my god ... I need you to keep your eyes open while I go to get the car. Okay?" Her thumb comes up to his face, slowly, hesitantly, to ever so softly wipe the drop of blood that was dripping from his mouth. "I'll be right back" she says, nothing but warmth in her tone as she gets up, slipping and sprinting her way back to the car. Less than two minutes later, she pulled up right beside him and stumbled out of the car. "Chase?! You still awake?" She asks as she sinks to her knees next to him once again She pulls his head into her hands to get his attention. "I need you to help me out." She says as she tries to gently pull him into a sitting position against her chest
Me Giving a small nod, he really wasn't sure what she was saying at that point. He really just wanted to go to sleep, but obviously that was going to be impossible to do right now. As he heard her tell him she would be right back he didn't say anything in response. Hearing his name being called out again his eyes shot open, before closing mostly once more. Looking to one side he watched as Kennedy's blurred form came back into view, suddenly she was so close to him, almost like she was directly in his face. Chase still wasn't sure if he was just imagining all of this. Though the moment his head was lift he cried out involuntarily as pain cut through him, a flash of lighting cracked across the sky over him, reacting to his pain and his slight hold over the current weather. That did help in waking him up, it did not help him feel any better. With a shaky breath he looked at her, more focused now as he moved to help her, at little as he could anyway. He wasn't really able to do much.
Purple She winced and fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. They hadn't even been that close, but seeing him in this much pain was enough to almost completely stop her thought process. "I'm so sorry" she says in his ear before giving a loud grunt as she lifts him up to bring him closer to the car and maneuver him into the passenger seat. Struggling through the grunts and cries of pain coming from the boy in her arms made her heart shatter. "It's okay. It's okay" she attempts to soothe once he's finally in the seat. "Would it be better if I recline the seat?"
Me He was almost wondering, as she was bringing him into the car, if it would have been better to just die. At least it would have hurt as much. Realizing this was just the pain getting to him though he forced himself to think of anything else to attempt to ignore his pain. To try and stop his cries as he was moved. Hating this situation the more he cried out as he was moved. As she finally stopped and asked what he wanted done with the seat he just looked at her before, more upset than he was planning he shouted "Yes!" Of course, who could blame him, with the amount of pain he was in from the injuries he had sitting up was probably the worst position. Though it really didn't matter what position he was in, he was still going to be uncomfortable and in pain.
Purple She jumped at the sharpness of his tone but didn't let it phase her. "Yeah of course. Duh yeah. Sorry" she mumbles to herself as she holds the back of his neck gently while she reclines the seat. She grabs a blanket from the back seat and folds it into a makeshift pillow, but decides to toss it back instead of going through moving him again. She hops into the driver's seat and slowly moves away from the barn back the way she came. She tried to maneuver around the pot holes so that he wouldn't be bounced around too much. Her head was on a constant swivel as her eyes kept flickering over to the broken boy at her side.
Me Once in a semi comfortable position inside the car Chase was losing his steam. All the moving had not been good for him and now he just wanted to sit back and pass out. As she drove he eventually did end up passing out entirely. If it weren't for the weak rise and fall of his chest he could have been mistaken for being dead for the entire time Kennedy had been driving. And without any other incident she was allowed to drive undisturbed to the next city. Soon arriving at the hospital where she could get the attention of the staff who came out to help Chase, bringing him into the hospital and to emergency without skipping a beat.
Purple That waiting room was the dreariest place she had been despite the happy and colorful pictures hung on the wall. She sat with her head in her hands for lord knows how long before she felt her heartbeat start to slow. Her only thought was him and she had no idea why. Her shaky hands found their way to her pockets as she found herself starting to slip off to sleep. Their relationship had never been anything more than a typical co-ed roommate relationship, but she would have to be stupid to not be attracted to the warlock. As she doze off her mind played tricks on her as the grief in her heart haunted her dreams. Images of him dying in her arms back at the barn made her toss and turn in her sleep until a nurse finally came to wake her up.
Me An undiscernible amount of time went by since Chase had been taken to emergency. The staff had to stop the internal bleeding for the most part, patching up what they could as quickly as they possibly could before Chase bleed to death. After some time a nurse finally walked over to Kennedy asking if she had come in with Chase. Then the nurse said that he was currently in a stable condition. Then proceeded to ask more information, mostly to figure out who he was and what had happened to him. Moving on though the nurse had finished up the brief encounter by saying that Kennedy should go home because Chase was in no condition to have visitors, of course, and she said that it might be several days or a week or more until he would be, given how grave his injuries were. Asking for Kennedy's phone number finally, so that if anything took a turn for the worse they could call her the nurse then went back to work.
Purple With a sigh, she left the hospital, quickly driving back to Ipswich and packing his stuff and hers and loading it in the back of the jeep. She then drove four mile to a small beach town where her family owned a cabin and put all of their stuff there except for a few pairs of clothes for chase. She drove back o the hospital the next day to check in before getting a hotel room n town. Why she dropped what she was doing to help him, she still didn't know. All she knew was that she needed him to be okay.
Me Chase had been put in a room where he could easily have an eye kept on him in case things had gone bad. But throughout the night he didn't seem to be showing that he would. Which to an extent caused several of the staff to become immensely confused. The next day seemed to be even better. Though he still was in and out of consciousness because despite how positively things had been going, he was still not out of danger. He still had been severely injured. So when Kennedy came back a nurse told her that he still wasn't very well, and that if she were allowed to visit it would only be for a short time.
Purple "Th-that's okay." She says shakily. "Can I ... Can I pleas see him?" Her head bows down low, nervous to see what he looked like, hoping that he was in less pain than that night. The most important thing right now was him healing, but she knew it was only a matter of time before Caleb found them.
Me The Nurse sighed a little before standing and walked around from behind the desk " Please try not to touch him." Though the nurse paused to think about what she was saying. On her charts it said he had been paralyzed from the shoulders down. Walking Kennedy to where they were keeping Chase she opened the door and waved her inside " It's sad, he doesn't appear to have any family we could call. So, though this is unorthodox to have non-family members back here like this, at this moment. It is better to have someone, than to have no one." She nod then and pulled away walking back down the hallway to continue working. Chase has been wrapped up in gauze that covered his burns and cuts.
Purple She swallowed harshly as the nurse left her alone. Taking a seat in the chair by his bed, she found herself realizing how little she knew about him. Whenever she had asked simple questions, he didn't want to talk about it. It felt wrong, sitting here alone since he had no family to come help console him, soothe him. How angry would he be when he woke up? Would he even be happy she was here? "I need you to be okay" She whispers to herself, knowing that he was asleep. "I have a safe place for us on the coast' She sniffles as she looks up at his face, "I'm so sorry I didn't get there sooner" She sniffles harder as tears roll down her cheeks, quickly wiping them away with shaky hands, "I shouldn't be crying ... and now I'm talking to someone who's asleep" She laughs breathlessly as she thinks about how crazy she sounds, blindly following a witch into a burning barn when he could have cared less about her
Me Chase of course could not hear the other or even knew that she was there. He had been kept in a state that would allow the staff at the hospital to manage his severe internal injuries better. And with a broken back he was already in a position that needed as much maintenance as they could possibly give. So as she spoke to him the only response she got as the breathing machine that helped him breath, and the beeping of the other machine. And every day for quite some time it had gone on like that, absolutely nothing from Chase. Then about two weeks later he was finally being allowed to wake up and placed in a better room for him. For a small window of time in the day he was woken up and allowed visitors much more regularly than previously. Even though only one person was visiting him. Kennedy had not been allowed to stay for very long until this point. Chase was currently asleep when a nurse lead her in for the day, she moved over to one of his drips and told her that he should be waking up soon enough, and that he had been improving well, considering. Then after she finished with the machines she left, going back to work.
Purple Over the past couple weeks, Kennedy's hope had started to fall. The hope that he would be happy to see her went down the toilet. The hope that he might walk again, the hope that they could stay safe from Caleb for as long as it took to get him healthy again, all began to worry her more and more. But all of her worries flew out the window whenever she would lay eyes on his face. She came in almost every other day and would just talk to him in hushed voices even though she knew that he couldn't hear her one bit. As the burns started to heal, that made her feel drastically better about his condition. She traveled back from her house at the coast and the hospital quite often, stocking the shelves with supplies in the cottage and then either staying in her car or driving back to the house. All she knew was that she wanted to be available for whenever the hospital called. As she sat down in the new chair of his new room, she felt some relief. This meant a new step, a step towards recovery. She only hoped that he wouldn't be too mad when he woke up.
Me There was a whole lot of nothing going on for Chase as she came over to sit next to him and the left them alone together. He was still hooked up to several machines to aid him. He didn't look like he was waking up. Until his eyes started to shift under his eyelids and his head weakly turned to one side of the pillow. He let out a heavy breath and then did nothing else for a long time before his eyes fluttered, opening for a moment and then closing as the light from the room was to bright to keep his eyes open for too long. Every few seconds he would open his eyes for a little bit then close them again. After a few minutes he sighed and attempted to shift, but nothing budge " What--...I--" He mumbled before going silent again his breathing disrupting the quiet.
Purple Her eyes widened as she heard his voice. Quickly getting up out of her chair, she stood above him and held her hands out in front of him to keep him still. "Hey. It's okay." She tries to say soothingly as her eyes stay trained on his. "Do you want some water?" What was she going to tell him? She tried to convey an easy tone even though she could feel her confidence slipping. She hated the expression she saw in his eyes. How was she supposed to tell him that he was paralyzed?
Me Chase would tell it was not okay, and why people opted to say stuff like it was okay when clearly things weren't was always going to confuse him. Letting out a heavy breath he tried to nod at her question of water. Though he wasn't sure he needed anything to drink. Especially with the IV being hooked up to him. "Caleb." Chase then said, after a moment of silence. Looking around he turned his head slightly. This made him wince as a almost pain spread down his back. It didn't last long though. Swallowing he looked back to her " Why are you here? Wh-" He cut off trying to move " Can't I move- What did you do?!" What he was wanting to ask was what did Caleb do, or more exactly, why he couldn't move. Thinking he had only been drugged or was handcuffed or something.
Purple "Chase. Hey hey. Look at me. You're safe. I got you away from the barn. Caleb doesn't know you're here. He doesn't even know if you're alive." She says quickly as she pours him a glass of water, "You're at Healds General Hospital. You've been out for almost three weeks. I need you to tr and stay still while I go get a doctor. Okay?" She reached out and gently laid a hand on a part of his forearm that hadn't been burned. "I'm only trying to help. I promise" She says softly before moving to grab the glass of water and bring it to his lips.
Me Giving her a confused look, he didn't think he heard the other right. They got him out? Why were they there in the first place, was an even bigger question that came to his mind. Inhaling deeply he eased up slightly. Too tired to begin to think about a way to get out of this situation Chase swallowed, trying to place the location of the hospital as she gave it to him. He wasn't very familiar with the areas around Ipswich. It had never been anything he thought he would need to learn. The plan was to go to Ipswich and kill Caleb, to get their Power. It was such an easy thing to do, he let himself get cocky. As she brought the cup to his mouth he only stared at her almost not moving to receive the water that spilled into his mouth. Swallowing it down for a moment he coughed a little turning his head away " Why?" He choked out.
Purple As she put the cup down with a shaky hand, she had moved to head towards the door to go get a doctor. She almost didn't hear him because of how his voice croaked. As she wracked her mind for an answer that made sense to tell him, she turned around with the smile back on her face, "To be honest ...?" She looked back into his eyes with a smile that wasn't quite as bright as the others she had shown him, yet was much more genuine, "I don't know, Chase." Taking a deep breath she took a step back toward him to whisper, "But don't worry about any of that. We just need to get you better so we can get you out of here, okay?"
Me Watching her as she backed away toward the door to get a doctor. Then blinking as she answered his question. He didn't know what to say to that. To be fair, what could he say to that answer. They hardly even knew each other. And she apparently just decided to go visit an abandoned barn that just so happened to bet he place Chase chose to fight Caleb. Chase saw it this way, anyway. As she whispered at him he didn't look any less confused than he had been. But decided this was probably better than anything he had planned. Which at the current moment he was out of ideas for what to do. All he needed to do was to move, so he could go back to getting revenge on the other sons, for his family. As long as that happened he didn't have anything else he had to do, waiting for him. It was just this, what felt like his entire life's purpose. Caleb had to die for the sins of his Covenant, and Chase knew he was the one that had always been pinned to play the avenger " Alright." He grinned a little, watching her.
Purple Quickly looking back over my shoulder to make sure no one was there, she turned back to him and whispered, "Lay low for a couple days, using your powers will only make things worse right now." She gently patted his arm before going to get a nurse. She was so relieved that he wasn't angry with her. She didn't completely lie to him anyway. She knew that his magic had drawn her too him because he's been in so much emotional pain, but that didn't mean that she knew why she stayed. As her thoughts wandered, she sat back down in the chair next to his bed as the doctor began to speak. She wondered is now that he had ascended if he had the power to read minds like she heard Caleb's father had had. Her eyes stayed glued to his body while the doctor spoke.
Me Chase narrowed his eyes at her as she said for him to lay low, sure she was making fun of his current state for a moment. At the moment he couldn't even use his powers. Which had felt odd actually, he had been trying to use for the last few minutes, and nothing. Or well, there were tingles, but basically, they were nothing. Watching her leave after patting his arm he closed his eyes and tried to focus on his powers, not really taking her advise. Chase had not been very good at listening to others who were just trying to be helpful. As the doctor came in and Kennedy returned he looked at them as the doctor spoke of his injuries and told him that things looked slim on a full and complete recovery. That he would be helped to make arrangements for himself when he was well enough. They then moved to check on his vitals and see how he was progressing, congratulating him on being awake and as aware as he was, which seemed to be a 'spectacular feat'. Chase could only imagine that, because he was so powerful, he was making so much progress with ease.
Purple Her heart sunk even more as she heard that the chances of recovery were slim. She thanked the doctor quietly, almost to herself as she looked away from him. She could feel him trying to use his powers. His recovery would go much quicker if he could focus his energy on healing and taking care of himself but why had she thought he would listen to her. She poured herself a little glass of water and waited for the doctor to leave before she spoke again. "If you don't want my help, I'll leave, but if you do, and you aren't to egotistic to admit it, then I'm going to need to to trust me just a little bit." She wanted to take the edge off of his pain, she really did. But in order for that to happen, he had to be willing.
Me Looking at her he started to feel something was strange in the room, not noticing it before. This attention only lasted for a moment though as she spoke and he looked away. He had always been very good at helping himself. Growing up learning how to control The Power by himself he had learned far more than the other sons had, pushing himself to his limits for years, with it. Using was one of his favorite things in life, especially after being outed as a freak by everyone he had ever known when he was only thirteen. As she was talking he adjusted his head a little. " Trust you with what?" He asked, feeling that he could just use his powers to fix his injures. He had fixed some wounds before. But that was always more like putting a bandage on a massive crack in a wall and saying it was fixed, at the end of the day.
Purple An audible sigh slipped from her lips as she debated telling him. She had only ever used her powers on small injuries. Partially because of the curse that came with using her powers, but also because of how it was that she had to use them in the first place. "I ---" For the first time, she blushed in front of him. The thought hadn't crossed her mind of actually healing him until today. "I --- I can take some of the pain away for you." She hoped and prayed that he knew what she was talking about. He was obviously well learned about The Power, surely he knew what a Healer was and that the deal was sealed with a kiss, right? The rosy hue that tinted her cheeks embarrassed her as her eyes finally cast downward from his.
Me Chase made a face as she stuttered. Waiting during her pause he looks at her, blinking a few times as his confusion and that strange sense continued to grow. It was a very awkward moment, if he were going to be honest. Lifting his eyebrows as she finally got it out he glanced to one side " Some pain?" He of course did not know what she was talking about. He had not been trained as those from The Covenant had for the last hundred years. Any training he had was self taught, and that involved much more either forbidden or unheard of magics, from The Power. Developing it as he had did not lead Chase to finding out what he was until he had met his father. Until that point he had thought he was alone in the world, the only thing of his kind. Supernatural creatures and such others in the like, as in Magic Healers, did not exist to him. His adoptive parents did not raise him to believe in such things, and as a child he had not been comfortable in their beliefs. As most of the time they were seen as evil. And when he was thirteen it had fucked his head up, being just what he had been taught to be Evil. Chase continued to stare at her " So?"
Purple "So ... if you'll let me. I can take small amounts of the pain from you every so often. Since you're healing quickly, I can take some of the pain onto myself, and it will help your healing process go quicker." Her eyes finally met his to notice his genuinely confused expression, "You don't know what a Healer is ..." She says in realization as her eyes widen, "I'm sorry. I assumed you ... okay." She sat forward in her chair more and reached out towards his arm, "If you can trust me for ... 30 seconds, I can show you what I can do" She says sweetly, softly, not wanting to frighten him at all. She had always been afraid of people thinking she was a freak because of her powers, especially since only two healers could exist at the same time, hardly any one knew about her. Even the boys in Ipswich had no idea who she was. She sighed as she decided to give it her all and try to help him. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, they showed a deep violet color, just like his would show black. She rubbed her arm shyly, as he was the first person that she had EVER showed her purple eyes to
Me He didn't think there was anything he could to but tell her 'no'. And even then, would she listen to him? As she stated his cluelessness he scrunched his nose just a little " Yeah. What? " As far as he knew there weren't any such thing, his father had only told him so much about the world of magic. Mostly just The Covenant, only just that. Which Chase thought was enough. He had made it pretty far in life without knowing anything else of the magical world, after all. So she wanted him to trust her for thirty seconds. It didn't seem too bad. What was she going to do, change her mind and kill him? As she closed her eyes he tilt his head a little to watch her. When she opened them again he glared a little " You know, for all that time I ignored you being my roommate. I probably would have been better off being friends with you." The word friend didn't seem right, it didn't feel right. He didn't need friends. But this was the only word that came to mind. Staring into her purple eyes he could see the similarity, and his curiosity had grown. But also, his hunger for power was starting to dig at him. " Thirty seconds."
Purple The word 'friend' hung in her head for a second making her wince lightly. She changed her eyes back to normal and looked at him, "We both know that you still aren't looking for a friend. You need one, but you don't think so." She said matter of factly. She leaned in towards his face, slowly getting closer and closer as she looked into his eyes. They changed back to their purple hue as she nodded, "Thirty seconds." She whispered as her eyes fell to his lips before flickering back up to his eyes and then back again, "Ready?" She whispered as her face was mere inches from his "Just say stop if you want me to" Her eyes fluttered closed as she leaned in towards his lips.
Me As she said that he glared lightly at her. Not liking that she had red him like that. " Maybe because they only hold me back." He answered. But there was obviously more to it than just that. There always was. And a lot of that had for Chase had to do with when he was thirteen. He wondered what it was with Caleb, and now Kennedy, that both thought they knew what was good for him. As she moved in, getting close to his face he looked a little more confused. A little more uncertain about what was just about to happen "Ready?" He questioned having no idea what she was going to do next. "Well do it!" He said harshly, making himself wince. Then pulled away as she moved to kiss him " Ah wait! You have to kiss me?"
Purple She stuttered at his harsh tone but looked at him as her eyes went back to normal, giving him a worried look. "I assumed you meant what lip-locked meant ..." she raised an eyebrow. "Surely you know what that means." She pulled back, giving him his space. Her hand pulled away from the spot on his arm. "I told you you have to trust me. I don't want you to be hurt."
Me Chase continued to look at her as she said that " What? No!" He almost shouted. Then looked away, he wasn't prepared for that at all. He didn't know why he was getting defensive honestly, it wasn't like there were anything wrong with kissing strangers, or well, practical strangers anyway. He had kissed Caleb, once, on the side of the face. So what was so different about kissing on the lips? He had never kissed anyone on the lips before and didn't think he would have to. " Okay. I trust you. I was uh, confused. Do it."
Purple "Are you sure?" She looked at him with a softer expression as she realized she was being mean. "I should have made that more clear." Her eyes met his and she couldn't help but wonder if he had kissed a girl before. "We can wait until we see how fast you recover if you want to." Her instincts told her to comfort him even if he said he didn't need it. She sighed softly and looked at her lap, "I can just go if you want me to." "I mean if you don't want me here, and just want to do this on your own." She looked down at her hands and wrung them out nervously, "I really just want to help you."
Me Chase thought her question over, not knowing what was going to happen of course. But what else could he do for the moment. It wasn't like Kennedy had been wanting him dead. Or maybe he was wrong. He didn't get that sense from her. Until he made his motives known, no one in Ipswich had wanted him dead. "No." Maybe it was because of the situation that went down at the barn. But he didn't want to be left alone. He couldn't understand why he had felt like this suddenly. He was Chase Collins, he had everything he wanted. And the only thing he needed was power. But he wanted her to stay. Looking at her again he swallowed " I would like for you to help me relieve some of the pain I am in." He said, sounding a little begrudging. Mostly because he didn't feel comfortable asking for help, or much of anything. He wanted to do everything by himself, usually.
Purple She nodded her head understandingly. She wanted to make this simple for him, and she hated that she couldn't. She slowly leaned forward again, "Have you kissed anyone before Chase?" her words barely above a whisper as he eyes faded to purple again. She was glad that he had been picked as her roommate but she would never tell him that. Out of all the guys in Ipswich, he had been the only one that wasn't hitting on her 24/7 and she appreciated that. When she found out about his powers, she understood why. Being this close to him gave her a fuzzy, warm feeling in her tummy that she didn't like.
Me With her question he laughed a little " Of course I've kissed people before. I'm eighteen. It would be really weird if I hadn't, right?" He glanced to the side for a second then looked back at her, inhaling sharply, in pain. As she hovered over him falling silent and not doing anything he cleared his throat to get her attention. Still having no clue as to what she was doing "So, are you going to kiss me or just hover?"
Purple She stuttered and blushed deeply as she looked anywhere but his eyes. "Y-yeah. sorry it's just ... well ... I haven't kissed anyone since I was five. And th-that was just a peck on the lips to c-cure a cut it wasn't ... no. No I've never had a real kiss. I don't think it would be weird if you haven't" she shook her head. She knew she needed to psych herself into it but she was just so nervous. She took a deep breath, preparing herself for the pain
Me " Oh, you know. It's really odd that your power works through kissing." Chase pointed out. Then shrugged a little bit before looking away " Yeah, Maybe not for a girl." He muttered, very childishly. Chase looked at her waiting for her to do what she needed already. He wondered what was going through her mind to make her keep stopping, or taking this long to just kiss him. " Hello?"
Purple She stuttered at his bluntness but it didn't phase her. "I-I'm sorry" she whispered and shook her head before hesitantly closing her eyes and pressing her lips, closed against his. Her hands went to the pillow on either side of his head and gently gripped the sheets. Mmm why are his lips so soft? She asked herself as a small smile made the sides of her mouth tilt upwards.
Me As she finally dropped down gently to press her lips against his he didn't know what to do. He couldn't do much of anything still being as weak as he had been after the barn fight. But he could feel his heart beat pick up, and the pain increase for a moment as his body reacted to this moment. Not just her, or their kiss. But to the moment, it was strange and new for him. He didn't ever see himself kissing anyone. Even if it wasn't a romantic kiss. Chase never even thought about stuff like that. Closing his eyes he let her continue, waiting for her magic to do what it needed.
Purple Her heartbeat quickened as her lips mounded against his. She couldn't help but wonder if he would be a good kisser if he weren't paralyzed. As she started to lose herself in kissing him, gently cupping his cheeks in her hands and swiping her tongue along his bottom lip, she felt her powers start to work. She felt her body seem to lighten as she felt no weight in her body, only to be replaced by the feeling of his. She felt every broken bone and torn muscle. Tears spring to her eyes as the pain in the rest of her body started to ease as she focused on his back and his spine, taking as much of the pain as she could bare. Her legs began to shake as she continued the kiss, wanting to take more from him.
Me Feeling her hands press against the sides of his face he winced a bit as her lips remained in contact with his own. When her tongue trailed along his bottom lip his eyes opened a little, seemingly concerned. Chase realized within moments that the pain that was washing over him began to disappear. Glancing up he his eyes widened a little more than they had been. He could tell his body was feeling warmer each second, he could feel the numbed parts of him inch away as feeling returned to him, any feeling that wasn't pain anyway. Heaving a little his breathing picked up in pace. Chase gripped onto the bed, he wondered how long they were into that thirty seconds she mentioned.
Purple As whimpers started to leave her throat, she finally fell back and slumped into the chair heaving heavily. She could still feel his lips on hers as her eyes closed tightly. The excruciating pain in her back, she knew would die down in a couple days. "Are-are you okay?" She asked soothingly, panting as she turned her head to look over at him with hooded eyelids. That was the most tiring way she had ever used her powers and it was definitely showing. She groaned and winced as she moved, more tears springing to her eyes. "Fuck. You were holding this together really well" she tries to laugh but it only causes more pain, making her grip the arms of the chair.
Me Not moving or looking at Kennedy as she finished and pulled away, sitting a chair. Chase was still trying to rationalize what had just happened. His arm twitched slightly as he continued to grip onto the bedding. When she asked if he were okay he gave a slow nod. Not to sure how to answer. He of course wasn't okay. But he was feeling significantly better. As she said the next thing he slowly looked over at her " The drugs and my willpower probably help out a lot, with that." He muttered, his eyes drooping then as a wave of exhaustion hit him. The drugs finally getting control over the pain. Relaxing, Chase sunk into the bed, his eyes closing even as he tried to keep them open.
Purple She noticed his expression and her eyes softened as she looked up to see his body more relaxed than before. "Get some sleep, Chase. When I feel better, I'll get up and get you down real food. Okay?" She asked as her own exhaustion set in and she leaned over against the bed.
Me Barely hearing the other he nodded, not even giving it much thought on what was even going on around him at the moment. His mind totally blanking everything as it drifted, bringing him more into sleep "Okay." He whispered in response, then fell completely asleep.
Purple She fell into a deep sleep right beside him, her forehead just touching his shoulder as her eyes finally closed, the pain being too much at once. With her hands tucked into her chest, the two of them slept for at least 13 hours due to the pure exhaustion they shared. And still, all she could think, was that she was happy to help.
