In light of the recent news around book banning in US schools, I thought I’d post a little something from The True North anthology. This comic was published by The Comic Legends Legal Defence Fund in 1988. Comic Legends was a comic store in Calgary that was raided by the RCMP. 192 comics were confiscated and the owners were charged with circulating obscene materials. This comic helped spread awareness of the struggle for intellectual freedom and raise money to cover the legal expenses in defence of the case. Currently The CLLDF has created the Retailer Assistance Program to address the hardships retailers face due to the COVID crisis situation. Cover by Dave Sim. “Warning” comic by George Metzger.
