fuck. shit. goddamn. son of a bitch. fuck. my colorado roots have fucking betrayed me again. fuck. FUCK.
[ID: a picture of Dennis screaming at Mac from it’s always sunny in philadelphia. Dennis is wielding a fire poker and screaming at Mac. Dennis is labeled “my brain,” and Mac is labeled “me.” The caption reads, in italicized yellow font, “Newsflash, asshole! You’ve been basing Kepler off of Georgetown, Colorado the entire goddamn time!!!!” end ID.]
look at this shit. look at it. god. here’s kepler proper, and there’s lake fisher, which i made up for tmwciftc, in the background.
[ID: a sweeping shot of Georgetown, Colorado, taken from up the side of a mountain. 50 to 60 buildings - houses, municipal buildings, etc - are clustered to the right of the image, with trees scattered among them; a large lake is to the left, slightly behind the town. the lake and the town are nestled in some mountains, which are covered in pines. a highway is visible to the far left of the image, winding around the base of the mountains. end ID.]
here’s a street, which i’m gonna call kepler’s main street. narrow streets, quaint family-owned businesses.
[ID: a shot of a snow-covered street. the buildings on either side appear to be small businesses. their storefronts are vertical, and they appear to have flat roofs, like old buildings in Westerns. Cars are parked on the right side of the road. Garlands are stretched between the buildings, hanging over the road. A snowy rock face covered in trees looms in the background. end ID.]
closeup on the lake. slap a geodesic dome on this bad boy, and you have amnesty lodge, good fucking grief.
[ID: a picture of a lake in fall, split in half by the ashy grey line of a rocky beach. the lower half of the picture is taken up by still water; the upper half has some aspens that have turned gold, and a large wooden cabin-style house. the windows of the house are lit from within; the house is reflected in the still water. end ID.]
the river that runs through town - which is the greenbrier river in canon, this is a shot of clear creek.
[ID: a picture of a small cabin next to some roaring whitewater rapids. the river takes up the right half of the photo, and is flanked on either side by green bushes, pines and trees. the cabin is on the left, and is surrounded by grass. end ID.]
the lake again! with the buildings in the background! lake ridge apartments is somewhere in that cluster of buildings! and i guess the mountain behind them is refuge hill? idk??? not really a hill, but you know. maybe mount kepler?
[ID: a picture of a lake, looking up at some mountains. the lake takes up a small bit of the bottom of the picture. there are several buildings grouped near the water’s edge: houses, cabins, etc. a massive mountain looms behind them. there is a fishing pole to the left; fishing line leads from its tip down into the water. the whole image has a washed-out sepia tone to it. end ID.]
well, at least now i have a semi-solid reference for kepler. the appalachians and the rocky mountains are in no way shape or form similar, but the way this town is laid out and just the general vibe of this place screams kepler. god, how did i not see this sooner???? fuck!
