Monte Vista Hotel by Scott Southall Unless I have done a terrible job on a shoot, which I think is rare, there is always a favorite photo. Most of the time it's the same one for my model and I, but every now and then it differs. As far as I can remember, this was both Kerewin and my favorite from this shoot. I only had an hour, and it's extremely rare for me to get to shoot indoors. I was staying at an old, yet fancy, hotel in Black Mountain, about 15 minutes or so from Asheville, and I had to figure out on the fly how to use the space. I thought I'd have plenty of light to use, but the clouds were against me at the last minute, so I was starting to worry if it would all work out just before she got there. The good news? I'm a screw up. I actually found a really good method of taking double exposures indoors using the built in flash because I forgot to turn it off for this shot. I was kicking myself when it went off, and then ecstatic when I saw the results. Everything after this was trying the ideas that came flooding in rather than worry. Not planning ahead, or remembering to take certain steps, is always the best. Don't think, just have fun, I say. ------ If you'd like to keep up with my photos that I post for the rest of the year, you can follow me on instagram: www.instagram.com/bandogphoto https://flic.kr/p/2nh5RsP
