Alex (Trebek) was going through a long-winded introduction. It cut back to the contestants. Kerry and Alex had switched places. Alex’s outfit looked slightly different.

Dan Feitel Keeps Lucrative Streak Alive at Five, Will Try for Six Tomorrow

Five games deep, Dan Feitel is on a serious hot streak. Heading into this evening’s game, he was one dollar short of $100,000. Currently, his game average now sits at $25,599.60 with a grand total of $127,998. It will take an aggressive challenger or an unforeseen drought to knock Feitel.

A look back at our current champion’s success suggests his wagering strategy plays a key role. While his strategy may not be as aggressive as some champions’, he has created devastating deficits for his competitors. And he’s done so with the kind of savvy of a dedicated student of the game.

Alex Trebek has said that smart players know they’re holding house money. Indeed, that sentiment rings true watching Dan Feitel play. He’s not betting small and has jumped out to multiple big leads when he gets a Daily Double. Much like fellow Season 31 champion, Alex Jacob, he rarely looks back.

Dan’s appearance in the next Tournament of Champions now seems like a safe bet. Even if he loses tomorrow, Feitel is the fourth most winning champion this season trailing only Greg Seroka ($180,401), Alex Jacob ($149,802) and Kerry Greene ($146,598). Should he win tomorrow, and keep the same winnings average, Dan would be the second highest grossing champion of Season 31 with $153,597.60.

Kerry Greene's Wealth of Education Pays Off With Six Consecutive Wins on Jeopardy!

After a six-day winning streak, Manchester, New Hampshire’s Kerry Greene’s time on Jeopardy! came to an end today. The 47-year-old volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) collected $146,598 over the course of her impressive run. Having won more than five consecutive games, she’s qualified for the 2015 Tournament of Champions.

“I never even thought about winning so many games,” said Greene. “I truly enjoyed playing much more than I thought I would beforehand. I really tried to appreciate the moment, because the experience passed by so quickly.”

Greene has been a lifelong Jeopardy! fan, and in December 2014, she got the call to be a contestant.

“As my kids got to middle school age, I started to have more time to think about things I could do for myself,” she said. “Jeopardy! was something that had always been on my bucket list, so when I saw the online test, I just did it.”

With a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University, a M.S. in Neurosciences from the University of California at San Diego, and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, Greene feels that the breadth of her education gave her exposure to a wide range of information that helped her succeed on Jeopardy!

“It was wonderful to feel like I made all my former teachers and professors proud, and there were so many friends and family members invested in my being a contestant – it was great to feel like they were going to enjoy watching me play,” Greene said. “I also loved the feeling of possibilities, the different things we could do with that money.”

After taxes, Greene plans to donate a portion of the prize money to CASA of New Hampshire.

“I believe in our mission, and I’m thrilled that I’ll be able to give money as well as time,” she said. “This organization speaks up for the least powerful players in the court system: children in abuse and neglect cases. It’s a pleasure to support an organization that does great work.” After her big run, we’re excited to watch how Kerry performs in the Tournament of Champions. Keep an eye out for her!
