Drum Roll Please...

Keshkin is finished, completed a week ago.

Took me that long to just process the idea that, after all these years, I’ve finally got a COMPLETE manuscript to work with.

Even better, I’ve can see a path to the next book of this series.

On January 1, I’m going to start my first full edit/revision. I’ve set a deadline for February 15. Let’s see how it goes.

Expect updates and rants; hope you’re enjoying the journey through this process.

ALSO, I’ll be looking to line up some beta readers in February, so keep your ears perked.

Need the help of a young whipper snapper who has some experience with digital art.

I have a sketch but I’d love to turn it into a digital piece (metallic) for my book cover.

And this fresh start is the next phase of this book: COMPLETION.

2,846 words today, and about 27K words to go before I finish Keshkin.

The new tracker I found here says I’ve only got to type 716 words to finish by December 31. The main thing I’ve learned by participating in NaNoWriMo is that I know I can beat that.

The cool thing about this next phase is that this is as FAR AS I’VE EVER GOTTEN with this book before. In over 30 years. Yes, you read that right. This story has been in my brain and on paper in various versions for over THIRTY YEARS. But that’s going to be story I’ll share when I finally finish this first book.

And now I’m some 58K words into a new adventure, even though I’m walking along a familiar path. I’ve added characters, given some characters more “screen time” (looking at you, Randon), compacted my protags and antags into a neat little basket. If they behave themselves and stay untangled while I knit them into this new vision, I’ll probably run down the street laughing like a loon.

So, here’s to looking toward January 1, with a finished first draft and a new campaign to find an editor and learn the fun of self-publishing!
