        the war was finally over. the empire had fallen. darth vader and his puppet master were long gone. balance was returned to the galaxy. life could finally move forward. and luke was ready for that. he’d been caught in a whirlwind of emotions after everything that had conspired and quite frankly, all he wanted was to catch a break. leia, of course, wanted him to stay and help rebuild all that had been destroyed. he would have, too, if his heart hadn’t been pulling him in the opposite direction. 

          “ are you leaving ? ” luke asked as he approached the falcon. he doesn’t know why he even asked, honestly. it was clear that the smuggler had no intention of staying put any longer. not that luke could blame him ----- he’d already exceeded luke’s expectations, he can give him this. “ if you’re not sick of me yet, i’d like to come with. if the offer’s still on the table. ” he’d surprised himself at first as the words stumbled from his mouth. but then he realized it made all the sense in the galaxy.

The weapon in her hand sheathed once more and clipped to her belt as she narrowed her eyes at him. “ Something amusing you, Solo ? ” Leia knew what Han thought about the Force and what Obi Wan had been trying to teach her before... well, before. What she didn’t get was why he was determined to watch her run the drills with the training droid regardless ?

Something’s wrong. Dad ? What is it ? ”   A note of worry broke through the calm exterior he tried to maintain --- control yourself, don’t let your emotions get the better of you.
