Artist: Machinefabriek Title: Huiswerk Label: Ketchup Cavern Catalog #: KC04 Format: Vinyl, 7", 33 ⅓ RPM
Notes: Another artist I was a superfan of way back when, originally I asked Rutger if they’d be interested in releasing a super-limited 1-sided LP and he countered with a not-so-limited 7″. I thought it was a great record but the packaging drove up the cost at a time when the Canadian dollar was pretty low so I sold maybe 50 of them. I think the remaining copies got tossed out when our distributor closed? I don’t have them anyways.
The record was delayed because I had requested some goofy colour of vinyl from Bill Smith Custom Records (R.I.P.) and they didn’t have it but never thought to call me to suggest an alternative so the order sat there until I called up after months of waiting. I told them I didn’t give a shit what colour the records were, I just need them! Hence the weird selection of coloured vinyl.
I also have to call out Boomkat for screwing me over, whoever their buyer was at the time said they would take the bulk of the pressing but when it came time to pay they wanted me to give them free overnight shipping to Europe which would of cost more than the records! I countered with an offer to ship them by boat which would have taken a month at a fraction of the cost and they told me they were no longer interested. Assholes!
(In retrospect I should have eaten the cost of shipping because this record bricked and they sat unsold anyways.)
Packaging: 4-colour glue pocket sleeve with printed labels, which cost a lot of money. Looked great though.
EDIT: Rutger also created a vector file of the SFC cloud logo which we continue to use. Thanks!

Artist: Robedoor Title: Pagan Drugs Label: Ketchup Cavern Catalog #: KC08 Format: Vinyl, 7", 33 ⅓ RPM
Notes: A tremendous record by one of my all-time favourites. KFW said it had a real Skullflower vibe which I agree with. The NNF folks were super-nice.
I made a bunch of these and in retrospect I should have pressed half the amount because that’s what sold. I was trying to get new distributors at the time but nothing really happened. I just unearthed a couple of boxes of these so they may be available in the future from Not Not Fun.
Edition of 538: 433 black vinyl, 100 white vinyl, 5 black/white marble.

Artist: Sissy Spacek Title: Gutter Splint Label: Ketchup Cavern Catalog #: KC09 Format: Vinyl, 7", Single Sided
Notes: 184 copies.
I’ve been a Wiese fanboy for YEARS, we exchanged a couple of emails prior to the Yellow Swans/Sissy Spacek show at the Emergency Room (R.I.P.) and when we met I offered to put out a 7″. A couple years after that this recording showed up in my inbox. 22 songs in less than 4 minutes on one side of a 7 inch record = perfect.
Note: John’s instructions for the cover were something to the effect of “photocopy it through as many generations as you can until you get sick of doing it.” http://www.john-wiese.com/zine/

Artist: Fossils Title: Young Guns Label: Ketchup Cavern Catalog #: KC07 Format: LP, Single Sided
Notes: I just listened to this for the first time in years and it’s surprisingly great. This LP probably got less attention than it deserved.
The download is freshly mastered from the original cassette from D.P. so the sound quality is not as good as the vinyl release, which was cut at Aardvark. All the more reason to hunt down a copy of the LP now instead of in 25 years when you’ll have to pay a thousand bucks on Discogs for an NM copy.
Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, the free improv freak unit Fossils have unleashed about a billion limited-run releases documenting their weird journey since 2005. Built on mystery, busted electronics, internal machine feedback, treated tapes & amplified junk, Fossils paint abstract new visions on steel cave walls. The 2009 Fossils players include David Payne, Steve Smith (thousand year frog), Daniel Farr (the living stump) & featuring the saxophone stylings of Rob Michalchuk (poor little music label). Young Guns was recorded sometime 2008 at mjc hq. Ketchup Cavern's first jazz record. Numbered edition of 119, color paste-on/screenprinted artwork, handmade sleeve. No computers used in production or design. Mastered from cassette for maximum audio fidelity.

Artist: Aidan Baker Title: Candescence Label: Ketchup Cavern Catalog #: KC06 Format: LP, test pressing
Notes:
Planned re-release of a CD-R, plates were cut at Aardvark, 10 test pressings were made by Bill Smith. Never happened because I got laid off from my job and didn’t have the money to press two LPs at the same time. Also the economy was crashing, my main distributor went out of business and I lost the artwork in a computer crash.
