The day is finally here. Cutting vinyl of my full length "debut" album: Compass. I'm so, so, so grateful for this experience and the journey it's been to get here. The growth of my music and the wealth of knowledge I've learned (and probably mostly forgotten) has been invaluable to me. But above all, the people that I've been fortunate enough to work with and ultimately call my friends really gave life to this album/chapter of my life. This is going to be fun to finally share!! So stoked! Thank you all for your support of me continually pursuing a dream. First vinyl record is on the way. Let's get it! The album title is: Compass. 1.) After I wrote the chorus for Zombie, the idea of having a Compass for the "open road" of life came about. 2.) 4 points of a Compass became an allegory for the Seasons EPs, with 4 different approaches to my songwriting. 3.) This logo was put on the EPs to foreshadow the theme tied together for coming full length album. The writing of Compass started when my son was born and the recording ended shortly after our daughter was born. Much of the lyrics were towards the direction of trusting your own Compass for your life. Whether it is to Slow Down, striving for a more Simple Life, or appreciating the Little Things, it's as if the album was writing itself. I kept telling my wife I was writing the same song over and over but with different styles. Compass is thematic, cyclical, and has 4 main vibes as introduced by the seasons. Looking forward to sharing it with you all! I know I've been taking my time, but quite honestly kids come first. Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach TOMORROW (Sat, July 2nd) on the main stage from 11am-3:30pm. Sharing songs with one of my closest friends, the über talented Mike B. Closing out the last week of Spring with a video release!! A live in-studio take of 'Musical Mercenaries' off the Spring EP. So stoked to share with you!!
