I challenged my mom at every turn. I remember arguing with her about wanting to be home all summer my junior year in high school, but she kept encouraging me to do this exchange program in Germany. I had a few friends going, but wasn’t sold on it at the time. I did it, and it ended up changing my life. Not only did we have an epic time indulging in the European lifestyle at 17 years old (Prost!!), but I realized that exploring the world and other cultures just fascinated me. I ended up traveling as often as I could afford for the next 10 years. I took 1/2 a year off in college, both sophomore and junior year - interning on the east coast and then studying abroad in Spain. After graduating college, Lauren and I went full bucket list for a solid 5 years. I am still as fascinated as ever. Well Mom, you were right. Thank you for one of the billion ways you’ve shaped and continue to shape the man that I am. #mommaknowsbest As for my wife, after we got home from an awesome weekend with friends and family, cards exchanged and celebration over, Kai wrote her a random note all on his own and it said "you light up mi life". Then Skylar scribbled a bunch of lines on a paper and we asked what it said. She said "it says" and then sung "why don't you just meet me in the middle!" You are our everything momma. Thank you for giving us these incredible gifts we call children. We are so lucky. Happy Mother's Day moms. #mothersday #postpartypost #stillcelebrating

This kid's been killing it on his math and spelling tests lately (yes they have those in Kindergarten now!). So with his 6th bday around the corner, I thought it was about time he sees Fingerprints - local record shop I used to go to growing up (albeit diff location). He had the place to himself, danced around, laughed at all the funny album covers, then talked up a clerk about picking out his first record. Chose a good one!! It was a pretty cool moment. 10 years ago I was slinging drinks at Sharkeez and playing shows all over South Bay or anywhere I could get booked. I was saving up dollar by dollar for our backpacking trip around the world and to buy this girl a ring to pop the question along the way. It was the biggest adventure we could imagine: months abroad, living day to day, sleeping on boats, buses, in vans, etc; meeting awesome people, eating exotic food, and seeing unforgettable sites. Today, those memories are still kinda unreal, but I can't even compare it to all we've done since. The little triumphs for our kids, and each other, take up more memory real estate than a thousand of those streetside pad Thai dinners. Though those were pretty bomb. Thank you for constantly encouraging our adventure. You are definitely my BEST decision ever. Also my worst decision was probably eating that burger in Ko Tao. How was that thing?!? Love you. The day is finally here. Cutting vinyl of my full length "debut" album: Compass. I'm so, so, so grateful for this experience and the journey it's been to get here. The growth of my music and the wealth of knowledge I've learned (and probably mostly forgotten) has been invaluable to me. But above all, the people that I've been fortunate enough to work with and ultimately call my friends really gave life to this album/chapter of my life. This is going to be fun to finally share!!
