Amuse me!
Hyejeong’s eyes narrowed into tiny slits as she watched Kevin move about with a sluggishness in his steps she hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t his usual energetic self and the smile she had grown to love was nowhere to be found on his lips and that bothered her to no end. Whatever or whoever had made him that way should be cursed, she thought, but then reminded herself that that was the most childish thing to do at that moment. Instead she started humming loudly, too loudly for anyone around not to hear, but she didn’t mind. At times like these she could easily forget about everything around her and focus only on the task at hand, which was now cheering up the wonderful person she called one of her best friends to bring the contagious smile she had almost gotten used to back to his face.
Turning around multiple times, her arms swinging through the air, she danced to the tune she was humming—rather ridiculously to say the least. It was the windmill move she had done on variety shows often because it was the only funny-looking thing she was good at. Suddenly she slid down on the ground doing the splits for no apparent reason before jumping up again, her arms extended widely in some sort of weird ending pose.
Not done yet, she walked over to her friend, carefully taking one of his hands and pulling him towards her, then forcefully spinning him around as well. “Dance with me!”, she said in a sing-song voice to seem extra cheerful, then lifted his hand to twirl around once before poking her tongue out at him in a grimace. Without thinking, she reached up to tilt the corners of his mouth upwards with her index fingers, pursing her lips in concentration. “Should I tell you something funny? So, the other day our FT Island sunbaenims came to visit us at our dorm and they didn’t tell us beforehand so Jimin unnie was still in her underwear when they came in, and then…”, she started telling the funniest story she could think of, adding details here and there so it ended up being more of a work of fiction than the actual story, but she wanted it to be funny for Kevin so he would maybe laugh. ”… and that is how Hongki oppa really got hurt. He never really fell and hurt himself, they just made that up for the media.” Her brows perked up and she looked at the elder expectantly, hoping to coax a laugh or at least a smile out of him— but she was already mentally preparing herself to tell another story, this time an even funnier one with more details and more slapstick comedy.
