Minutia Before Midnight by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY Via Flickr: This image was captured a few minutes before the conclusion of 2016, prior to Seattle's entry into the new year. I posted an image of the 2017 fireworks display from this spot earlier in my photostream, but I dislike like that image immensely. Why? The reason is while I was trying to meticulously calculate and compose the image, another individual was engaged in conversation with me (a.k.a. she was talking at me), and I didn't want to be rude by cutting her off. It's amazing how engulfed people can be when talking about themselves, temporarily forgetting that it typically takes two to have a conversation. Please don't misunderstand. I don't mind company when photographing, but if I cannot give my full attention to what I'm doing, the resulting image will reflect this, and I will become rather sullen, especially if the opportunity is a rare one. As a result, I was unable to concentrate properly and produced some of the worst New Year's images I have ever created, in my own view. (I'm my own very worst critic, so I never go easy on my own work). What does any of this have to do with ***this image***? I think it's my saving grace. Knowing that fireworks typically generate smoke and spread visible fumes through the sky, I wanted to make sure I obtained a clear and pristine capture of the Seattle skyline before the firecrackers emanated from the Space Needle. The Needle is illuminated in pink because the fireworks show was sponsored by T-Mobile, and hot pink is the company's trademark color. It looks rather good on the Needle. In essence, I think this image was my best capture from the event. I had reminded myself that I would let half the year pass before sharing it here (to prevent what might look like repetition).
