Short deacon story about what if he put an apple airbag in the bag that one time in order to find where buddy and violet are

He had put the airtag in the bag when chase wasnt looking , he had lured him away making him rethink if there was enough snacks . He knew the bag was for buddy , but chase didnt knew he knew .

Deacon had ordered the airtag on Amazon, express delivery and claimed to his mom it was a school expense to make sure he would never loose or get his bag stolen .

Once the book finished he was fixated on his phone desperate to see the airtag react , he was worried this would be pointless , that the airtag was no longer useful . His nervous tapping started to annoy bronze who didnt bother to ask questions about his doings earlier .

Bronze: why are you looking at your phone

Deacon: ...I.. promise to not tell anyone?

Even if their relationship seemed to be based on banters, bronze cared more than he woukd ever admit .

Bronze: sure I promise

Deacon: ..Im trying to find violet and buddy

The key looked surprised , coming closer in order to take a peep at the screen as a bip finally came trough .

The airtag was functional . The plan was working .

Bronze: wait so wich dot are we ?? The..the 2 dots I can see both !

Deacon couldn't believe his eyes ...the library obviously! Of course ex libris had established their operations in a library !

Deacon: o-ok so , we are this dot , and this is violet and buddy . Theyre...at the library wich is right in town...they've been so close...all this time...

Bronze grasped deacons hand , tears almost forming at the corner of his eyes

Bronze: we need to go get them !

The human was shocked and could only agree , he needed to go , make sure this human wasnt gonna cause trouble for chase . Get the other keys .

He used books as an excuse to go in town while chase was busy entertaining prunella . He felt hot and dizzy from stress , he hoped everything would go alright . Bronze was focused on the phone his breath labored as he was making sure the airtag was still receiving signal and stayed in place .

They went inside , the key safely hidden in deacons bag . Strangely the dot wasnt moving at all...maybe it was in a safe place ? He started snooping around the employee clearly not payed enough to care if someone was behaving weirdly .

Following the signal he reached a storage room that by some Miracle wasnt locked . He opened it his hand shaking from the emotions .

As the door was opened, deacon locked eyes with a tiny being , a key , buddy

He slowly closed the door behind him .

Deacon: youre...

The fear in the vilains eyes was discernible from miles away

Deacon: ...youre a key

The terror was palpable . Violet was freaking out shaking buddy like a madman as she begged him to move and go hide

Deacon slowly put on the ground the helper key to his siblings shock who just looked at each other silent before running to hug each other

He was now pondering how to break the news..

Thinking about the “buddy is a key” theory from Cinderella boy.

Usually the old but not aging character x the super young barely legal character really bothers me. It seems like barely concealed fetish and usually normalizes bad dynamics and toxic situations.

However it hasn’t bugged me so far with stargoth and I’ve been trying to figure out why.

Here’s what I think it comes down to.

For me the big issue with a much older character and a much younger character is the older character has the ability to use their experience in the world to manipulate the younger one. Even accidentally. The older one may know more sexually, socially, or emotionally and can use that against the younger person whether they mean to or not.

For example: this is the reason that vampire romances can be really hit or miss. It’s often the vampire using their knowledge and skills in the human world to control the human because the human is too young and impulsive to know better. Even if the vampire looks like they’re 20 they will still act and think like someone who has had 5 times the experience of a 20 year old.

But if buddy is a key, then he doesn’t have this sort of upper hand since he doesn’t have experience as a human. Not only is his only time being human relegated to story books (notoriously non realistic) but most likely he’s been in key form for most of his existence (given the fact that silver mentions often not knowing how much time has passed since she was allowed to be in not key form) which significantly lessens his years of consciousness (I think. please correct me if I’m wrong).

So even if he is technically some random number in the 100s years of age, he’s still got the mind and behavior of a young man, as we have seen throughout the comic.

Idk if I’m explaining it well but to me it’s a bit similar to those anime girls who look, talk, and act like children but are 120 or whatever. people try to justify sexualizing them because “well they’re 120 so they’re legal” but outsiders know that that’s a child even if the age supposedly makes them technically older. Same with buddy. He may be whatever age but he just doesn’t have the life experience to justify saying that he’s emotionally that much older than chase.

Anyway idk if any of this makes sense. It’s mostly just me rambling my thoughts. And I thought maybe it could help some of the people who would walk away from the fandom if it’s confirmed that buddy is indeed a key.
