Have you ever noticed?

Me again! I’m rewatching season one and I noticed something for the first time.

I know distance within the show is always kind of skewed, noting the Eiffel Tower in the background, but did anyone else notice that Marinette’s house is basically across the street from the school?

After a few rewatches some people also noticed that Bubbler gave a pretty good map of the local area in the aerial “kicked up to space” shot, and the relative locations of the most common buildings seems to be the only consistency in the show.

Spoilers in Fanfiction

so my friend is trying to coax me into writing a fanfiction for Miraculous, but the thing is, I’m worried that since I know the spoilers, and that I know I’m going to want to add said spoilers in (the new holders) that people would be turned off by the story. Should I put in the description that it contains slight Season 2/3 spoilers to warn people??

A lot of fans already know Jeremy’s spoilers anyway @key-ring, so I don’t see why that should stop you from writing fanfic. (You’re certainly not the only one; everybody’s so excited for the new developments that I’ve already seen tons of art/fics incorporating the new material.) Warning that the story will contain leaks is very thoughtful though, and wherever you post it make sure you give it some kind of spoiler tag (I use #zagspoilers for example). So yeah, go right ahead and have fun! Add to the hype until we get some new content c:

Catch Phrases in Fanfiction

Idk if you have any biased about ML fanfiction or anything, but after reading so many, I’ve come to wonder:

Why do writers of fanfiction use “transform me!” instead of their actual catch phrases, “spots on”/“claws out”.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, its not going to make me stop reading the stories, but I’m honestly curious about of there was any specific reason behind it.

Hey @key-ring! I’ve been awful about answering fanmail/messages for several months now, but I just happened to notice yours, and because I knew the answer easily I thought I’d respond!

You’re right that technically “Spots on” and “Claws out” and “Spread the wings of darkness” are canon catchphrases. What you might not know, however, is that this isn’t universal! 

See, these are the English catchphrases. But Miraculous Ladybug is actually created and written by French people. In the original French script, they say “[Kwami name], transforme-moi!”, which is “Tikki, transform me!” So, these fanfic writers probably watch the French version of the show with English subtitles, where the catchphrases are “transform me” and not the specialized versions from the English dub. 

Some people might argue over which are “more canon” or “more official”, the English dub phrases or the original French ones. I say it doesn’t matter, and they usage is up to you! If you prefer when Ladybug says “Tikki, spots on!”, go ahead and use that in your fanfiction. If you prefer that Chat Noir says “Plagg, transform me!” then do that! My advice is to pick one method and stick with it for the entirety of the fanfiction, not to switch from paragraph to paragraph or chapter to chapter.
