Keyblade Rating - Zero/One

How many of you didn’t know this one existed, huh? See, you miss cool things if you don’t play Re:coded! In my opinion, this should be data-Sora’s base Keyblade. A digital Keyblade for a digital boy. An 8-bit-eqsue Kingdom Key. 10/10

Keyblade Rating - Gula’s Keyblade

This Keyblade is fine until halfway up the blade, whereupon it turns into a black metal band logo. Too much empty space. Not distinct enough. 5/10

Keyblade Rating - Aubade

(art by portadorx on deviantart) From KHWiki: “An aubade is a song or poem evoking dawn which is traditionally a love song of two lovers parting in the morning. While not fully romantic in nature, the most defining aspects of Roxas's personality occur in Twilight Town: after leaving the Organization, he travels to Twilight Town; there, he encounters and is forced to defeat his close friend Xion, destroying her and giving up even his memories of her. This occurs shortly before Sora awakens from his year long slumber, referencing two lovers parting in the 'morning'.” KHWiki is required by professionalism to interpret things neutrally. I, however, am not. Aubade is the Rokushi Keyblade, and that helps me forgive the open sides of the guard. Also, the blade is a god damn sword. I never even came close to this Keyblade in Days, and it’s one I sorely wish I could have had. 10/10

Keyblade Rating - Void Gear

Somehow not half as edgy as half the Keyblades in Days. A bit more complicated than I’d prefer, but it contrasts Vanitas being canonically less complicated than I’d prefer. Has two Mako eyes Krazy Glued to it, and despite fandom wild mass guessing, there’s no indication that means anything yet. The Keyblade of an angsty, emo 13-year old. 10/10

Keyblade Rating - Invi’s Keyblade

There’s a hole in the guard for this one, but it’s so clearly to accommodate the wielder’s wrist that I’m not even mad. Elegant, a little more complex than I prefer, but I still love it. 10/10

Keyblade Rating - Oblivion

Now that’s more like it! Solid shaft, definitely both a sword and a key, and the teeth have similar symbolism to Oathkeeper where they’re formed from the kanji 闇 (yami), meaning “darkness”. A Dark Keyblade that doesn’t have a Mako eye Krazy Glued to it. Symbolic of the relationship between Sora and Riku, but again, to me it will always be associated with Roxas. 10/10

Keyblade Rating - Star Cluster

Also known as the Kingdom Key W, which implies the eventual existence of a Kingdom Key X, a Kingdom Key G, a Kingdom Key V, a Kingdom Key Z, a Kingdom Key ZZ, a Kingdom Key 00, and a Kingdom Key AGE. Supposedly, this is a Keychain on the Kingdom Key D. Also supposedly, this is a fusion of the Kingdom Key D and Star Seeker. Literally any information from canon about which one of these is true, or where this Keyblade came from, would be helpful, as would the maintenance of the Kingdom Key D being a special and unique Keyblade. I love this design. I hate everything surrounding its origin. 8/10

Keyblade Rating - Ultima Weapon III

KH1′s Ultima Weapon had one blade, KH2′s had two blades, and so KH3′s, of course, has three blades. I hate that fact, but this Keyblade looks so goddamn cool that I can easily forgive it. It seems very sharp in a lot of places. I wanted to try to get this in KH3, but I couldn’t deal with the requirements when there were other games I wanted to play. Wish I could have had it. 10/10
