My 100% functioning VT320 and Keyboard add-on! This baby isn’t even considered a computer, it’s a terminal! The difference is that this thing just exists to access a server. It has basically no internal storage, just enough RAM to hold some text. It’s practically useless without something to connect it too, but that doesn’t stop it from being absolutely beautiful piece of technology. More facts and pics under the cut.
This bad boy is in great condition considering that it spent the whole of her working life on a factory floor. She was used to display a live feed of the next parts that were scheduled to be loaded onto the line. After that, she got put in a closet for almost 30 years, before being given to me. Yes, I befriend the IT guys and in return I got to go through the back area full of junk. There was a lot of useless stuff, but when I saw this I knew that I found something good
She’s big and heavy, but the keyboard is what really surprised me. I have not opened it up but the weight tells me that there is a lot of metal in that thing. Fun fact, there is the ability to assign new functions and characters to the keys. I cycled through the settings a little fast but it’s there.
And despite being built in the 80’s, there’s a built in light mode!

welcome to your regularly scheduled keyboard content, today i offer the first custom keyboard i’ve built so far. it’s a 40% keyboard meaning that it has 40% of the keys that a regular keyboard would have (including the F/function keys). i used linear switches and some keycaps that i randomly bought off of amazon lmao. aNyways, here’s video of me doing a typing test with it :) more photos utc!!
