it’s been two days and I’m already missing you like crazy. I can’t remember the last time I genuinely enjoyed Christmas (or a break in general) this much.

do you know that I still have trouble listening to darling without tearing up sometimes because it hurts? you make me do things I don’t generally do for other people. I always go a step further for you because you deserve all the nice things and I enjoy seeing you so happy.

Fact: She knows him too well. She knows he's always itching to move on, to continue, to run. He doesn't deserve her; she deserves better. (Another fact, one he's less eager to admit.)

But she needs him right now. That, too, is a fact. Tommy has no idea how to be there for someone. He came from an unhappy home with parents who only bothered to give him negative attention. Nobody has been there for him. The only example he has is from television. Television is a shitty example. (Television is shitty in general, he's found. Especially having to sit still during an entire eight minutes of ads.)

"Uh" he says, awkwardly opening his arms to give her a hug. She's warm and smells sweet and her arms come around his torso. Tommy instantly feels like running far, far away and staying put all at once. It's a confusing feeling. "I'm here for you?"

The tightening of arms around him feels like a thank you.
