MINOR SPOILERS ON WEMMBU'S LATEST VID
(I Got Hunted by the World's Deadliest Assassin)
AAAAAAAAAAA I just got the idea of some sort of group/civilization who has been keeping an eye out on Wemmbu's movements for some time now and they just think "yep, this guy should be ours" and bro ends up being the leader/worshipped by some kind of cult :SOB: ofc they gotta show off to their King Wemmbu that they are strong and skillful, they are the only ones worthy to be by his side. Which was why they are trying so hard to get rid of Eggchan. They have seen the amount of destruction and potential chaos Wemmbu can cause, and Eggchan is the one holding their King back. So yes, Egg gotta go bye bye.
They kinda fucked up and unhinged tho, so yes, they gon kidnap their king and force him to come with them.
A review/analysis on FlameFrag’s “I Joined the World's Largest Minecraft Army” video
IMPORTANT NOTE: Not talking about the Creators, ONLY THEIR CHARACTERS/ROLES IN UNSTABLE. I love Lomedy, please we deserve to have better writing for his character here.
As someone who has only recently started watching the Unstable Universe/UnstableSMP in the second half of the year 2025, I can say fairly with confidence that I have come to understand a good chunk of Unstable’s story. When I watched the videos of the protagonists, FlameFrags’ character (which I will be referring to as Flame onwards) has been established as a solo player, someone who does things all on his own. At least most of the time, because there were wars and battles where the match-up had to be evened out and Flame had to team up with one other person or a group.
Now, on to the point of this review: Lomedy’s character. He is someone who was described largely by the fandom as a supportive, attentive, encouraging, and caring person (Lomedy | Unstable Universe Wiki, n.d.). A player who dedicates his time into maintaining and expanding his farm—in a hardcore server. He’s also been described as having an open-mind and being understanding of people’s reason for fighting even though he hates it. Lomedy is also known to motivate others to keep going and doing his best to maintain peace.
But for some reason, all of that open-mindedness and understanding flies out of the window when it comes to his best friend, Flame.
I have come across a post on Twitter/X (mind you, I rarely use that app simply because it’s hell). The original poster asked a genuine question if someone can tell them what all the fuzz is with UU!Lomedy because he’s their “least favorite UU deuteragonist” and would love to hear what makes him great in their eyes.
The summary of the answers:
“Has the most impact on his protagonist out of everybody”
“Charming”
“He has boundaries and a spine. And motivations and desires that don’t revolve around his protagonist and sometimes clash. So much character depth.”
“He’s cute. I think his writing is better than other deutags and the effect he has on Flame is very interesting too”
I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with most of these. I do have a word or two on some of them. Because there are parts that made me question how many of those traits they mentioned came from the actual source and how many were from their headcanons.
Again, I do not hate Lomedy or FlameFrags, I just have mixed feelings with their characters’ writing in Unstable because I have a feeling we are getting to the point where the tropes keep repeating over and over again. With the pacing in Unstable, it would be difficult to not recycle some tropes, but they are going to need to come up with new things if they don’t want the story to become repetitive. (Unless, of course, if it’s ending soon.)
I’ve watched about how Lomedy actually ended his friendship with Flame after learning he killed thousands of Lawmen and Flame being stubborn and refusing to change. Great on Lomedy’s part, to be honest. If you have a friend who does things that go against your morals, just leave them. Don’t waste your energy on them.
I think Unstable has a pacing problem when it comes to fixing old relationships. One good example of this is PrinceZam’s UU character during the LAW arc. You’re telling me one of the characters who has the nastiest personality during the first season had an entire character redemption arc in solitary confinement? He must be part of the Blackbeard Pirates with all those off-screen developments.
We are getting a bit sidetracked, back to the topic in mind and my thoughts leading to it. With all those descriptions of Lomedy’s character, both from the actual Unstable videos and fans’ opinion. It made me question myself and them, because I could barely feel it. I mean, it’s definitely there, but it feels so lacking that to me, it looks hollow. Basically, there’s a lot of “tell” but no “show.”
People keep saying things about these two are like “this” and “that,” but when it’s time for me to actually watch them, it’s barely there. I admit there are few good and funny moments, but not on the level people retell them. As for his impact in Flame, I can say there are. I will not be undermining that, but at the same time, it barely has an impact on me—as the viewer—because I can barely remember them after watching them. Maybe because it’s too generic, but also because I could see other characters doing the same to trigger a development in Flame.
An example of this is ManePear’s character in Unstable. I do understand that he has said before that he might not be doing Unstable videos for a while because he’s focusing on his own channel, but again, this is just an example. When I look back at it, did Flame ever have a video with Mane aside from during his Training Arc? I don’t really remember but please correct me if I’m wrong, I think aside from the clips from Wemmbu’s PZE arc, the only time Flame and Mane were together was that training arc; which was more memorable than most videos with Lomedy.
Again, I do not hate Lomedy, I just want his character’s writing to be better. Because of the things I’m seeing right now, I do not have high expectations on how they are going to resolve this again aside from some short talks that don’t even dwell deeper into the things that actually happened and acknowledging how both parties felt. Then again, 60% of Unstable ‘fans’ seem to be only watching Unstable through tiktok edits and powerscaling, which only solidify my thoughts of media literacy being down in this fandom. I love Unstable because the writing is so good for the majority, but I feel like the ‘minor’ scenes are lacking and it’s such a waste of potential because there are so many things that could be done with them while also making them interesting and helping to progress the plot.
I mentioned previously about how Lomedy’s character is known for being “supportive, attentive, encouraging, and caring person,” then why, for the most part, do I (and a few others I know of) keeps remembering him as someone who supports Flame then condemns (exaggeration) him the next second? There seems to be a repetitive cycle of push and pull between these two and it is driving us insane because it doesn’t make sense. It keeps contradicting how Lomedy’s character was established and how Flame and Lomedy’s duo relationship is described. I don’t mean that they should have a sunshine and rainbows friendship, no. It’s just that if you look at their dynamics in its entirety, you can actually see how unhealthy, toxic and even destructive their friendship is.
For someone described as a person who cares greatly about Flame and doesn’t force him to change his personality, Lomedy has recently been doing the exact opposite of that. This is what triggered me to write this long review.
Lomedy has repeatedly told Flame how much of a selfish person he is, Lomedy is the one acting like it. I thought he was supposed to be an open-minded character and understands why people fight? Lomedy, are you forgetting that as much as other people and civilizations try to live a peaceful life in Unstable, it’s still a hardcore (and anarchy, at this point) server? I’m being so triggered right now because why does Lomedy’s character keep getting dumbed down here, please we’re not asking for genius-level, common sense is enough.
(I’ll just cope with the fact that they are actually writing up a peak-level redemption arc for this)
The thing is, with all the borderline-insults Lomedy has been throwing at Flame, he actually stayed with Lomedy. Which is why Lomedy calling him “selfish” is such a surprise for me. Flame might be the one wearing a blindfold, but Lomedy is the one who can’t see what is right in front of his face.
Hypocrisy, that’s the word I’d use to embody not just to the character of Lomedy, but also FlameFrag’s after what they did to Wemmbu recently.
This has been a long-going stand since the very beginning and we’re honestly sick of it. It was as if the last 2-3 arcs did not happen at all? Cindercrest was so random and Lomedy’s reason for wanting to help them when Flame asked was “you won’t understand,” then make Flame understand? Lomedy, you’re literally the only person Flame considers his friend, he will listen to you. These two give off the vibe of "communication is key, but you go first.” What do you want?
This just hits differently to me because the way Lomedy was saying and acting that Flame could go away if he doesn’t want to join Lomedy to Cindercrest had manipulative undertones in them. Is this the same Lomedy people describe as Flame’s supportive, peaceful, and caring friend? Lomedy knew Flame would do what he says, he knew Flame would eventually join Cindercrest if Lomedy joins it. This could’ve worked much better if Lomedy elaborated on his agenda, but no, because Flame “won’t understand.”
Then they went ahead and kidnapped Egg. Mind you, Eggchan was just chilling in a peaceful kingdom—Wheat kingdom. A kingdom that Lomedy’s character would’ve absolutely adored since farming is his thing. So, we are just destroying characters and scrapping already established lore from previous arcs?
Flame telling Wemmbu he was overreacting about Egg’s situation as if he wasn’t in the same position just a few hours/days ago. He would’ve done the same if it was Lomedy. Here, I think I Flame has some thoughts about what’s going on with his friendship with Lomedy in this part. The way he wasn’t even concerned that much when Wemmbu was literally throwing nukes and macing Lomedy? He literally laughed at Lomedy when Wemmbu sent a stab shot at him just because he was annoying him.
I hate how Lomedy was acting tough when they were holding Eggchan hostage. Lomedy was held captive in LAW’s prison cell and Wemmbu, who only knew Lomedy as Flame’s best friend and it was their first interaction, had actually offered to take Lomedy with him. Wemmbu cared enough about Flame that he was willing to take care of his best friend for a bit if he had agreed to accept Wemmbu’s offer. And these two just kidnapped Wemmbu’s best friend and had the audacity to say Wemmbu was overreacting? Selfish, hypocrites, ungrateful.
Don’t even get me started on the reason they took Eggchan; for Wemmbu’s Orbital Strike Cannons. The same weapons that Flame called cheats. So now that Lomedy is in Cindercrest, he’s chill with them now. In the first place, Flame doesn’t even personally like Cindercrest. Which is why Lomedy’s behavior is so out of the blue because he’s basically forcing Flame to change his entire lifestyle, personality, morals, and behavior to accommodate him.
Jaden, a man who can do anything but gets lost on himself whenever it’s something that involves Wemmbu.
He knows when to get close to wemmbu, he knows when to let him loose. He knows how to lie, to fake it, to scheme, and to face the truth when it comes to it. And he also knows when to dream. He knows the rare times he allows himself to touch Wemmbu, what he needs to prove to get close to him again.
He knows those moments would never last, time is racing against him, yet will never tell Wemmbu everything he has to tell him but Jaden would still try.
And that was his fatal mistake.
He knows the roads to riches, the path he needs to take to become great, the King of the Pirates, he always knows the name of the game and doesn’t back down easily from challenges.
He knows a lot of things, but he doesn’t know how to leave Wemmbu, so he stays despite not being the one who gets to stand by his side.
Everything Jaden knows—well, it’s all nothing until he gives everything to him.
….. I should really write a Fake Identity arc in Jaden’s perspective in my series, huh?
I could probably say this more eloquently but I’m currently in class and my honest reaction? They don’t even care even if you say you just ship the characters and not the CCs themselves and go on another different rant about “boundaries” and shit.
They are NOT going to notice you lil bro. It’s all in AO3. Do you even know how many clicks and that you have to search specific keywords to actually find the shipping part? The filter system in AO3 is not THAT hard to use. Do I look like I’m advertising the shit out of my shipping and forcing them to the fans/ccs themselves?
Considering this is the first time I’ve gotten a comment like this (probably ragebait ngl) the way they say they ‘understand’ the AO3 culture really rubs me the wrong way.
No lil bro, you don’t understand fandom culture at all 🥀 because of this, I’m gonna write even more fics 💜
I LOVE seeing the "left a comment" notification on AO3 because I love reading my readers' thoughts about my fics then I was greeted with ts dang 🥀🥀🥀
