Yesterday, I was sitting in Biology, trying to take notes, and the girl that sits next to me began harassing me about my religious beliefs. I explained to her that I believe there may be a God, Satan, so on, so forth, but that I would rather not worship them. She told me she would pray for me. I was hoping that was the end of it. About five minutes later, she turned to me and asked my sexuality. I responded with pansexual, then had to explain to her what it was. She accused me of worshipping Satan and informed me that I am going to Hell. At this point, I was beginning to get irritated, because what kind of "Christian" tells somebody they're going to Hell? They're supposed to be open and excepting. To love everybody. I asked her why I was going to hell, and she answered that it was because in the Bible it says that any form of homosexuality is a sin. So, I asked her. "Do you eat pork, and seafood?" She told me that of course she does. I responded "Then you're going to Hell, too." She didn't understand. In the bible, it says: You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. (Deuteronomy 14:7-8. Then, in Isaiah 65:2-4, and 66:17, God issues a stern warning against those who eat pork). At first, she tried to justify her ignorance by telling me she hasn't read the Bible completely. She, a "full-blown Christian" has not read the Bible, and I, who tries not to associate with Religion, has read it multiple times. That's a bit superficial. After I called her out for that (at this point people were listening in), she told me that to her, that part of the Bible didn't count, because animals are stupid and nobody cares about them anyway. I asked, "So, would you eat a cat?" To which she responded, no, that's disgusting and unholy. I sighed and turned away. What I don't understand, personally, is why she thinks that only certain parts of the Bible apply to her. She doesn't even know simple things, like the Commandments, yet she has the right to tell me that I'm going to Hell for trying to be simple. What has Religion and the world come to?
