Key World notes, rambling, magic door 'mechanics'
05/14/2023 [12:29 PM] Info dump about key world thing, fairies live in little semi- isolated communities where they might take on apprentices who are witches coming to learn magic. The fairy matriarch I've shown is from a community where she doesn't let in new witches. She only has one apprentice bc she has a need to strictly control her surroundings and it's easier when it's just her fairy kin who already follow and respect her / already know how to use their magic, and one apprentice she focuses all her teaching onto who does whatever she asks. (There was an extended ramble afterwards about how she's manipulative and her treatment of the apprentice and others, and how despite this she's technically a 'good guy' within the context of the story, but that's for another post)

[9:42 PM] Concepts: 1. Locking yourself in your own soul world with your key. You can still starve or dehydrate to death in there. The food you eat in that realm is not real and can't satiate you. If you die inside your own soul world, with your key, the door it left behind will stay in the material world, locked, until a powerful enough magic user comes upon it and forces it open to take the key out. This is not a common occurrence. 2. Enemies getting into your soul world. Because it acts similar to a dream, you can create your own weapon and disable your opponent in the soul world. You can give them real injuries, but that goes the same for you. 3. Locking someone in a soul world. Locking someone who is not the owner of the world can create a cursed door that doesn't vanish from the material world even after the owner leaves. The area around it will attract "unnatural" creatures, those created through transfiguration of living creatures. 4. All corrupt soul worlds attract unnatural beings. "Desecration" of the soul world in any form (Leaving corpses inside, keeping prisoners) will attract unnatural creatures including any reanimated through necromancy, one of the few "foul magics" 5. Willing guests in the soul world do not curse the entrance. If someone stays in your soul world by their own will and yours, their presence will not curse the door to linger behind in the material world. If they change their mind it will manifest on its own and must be opened. The person still needs to be let out occasionally as they can't sustain themself in there.

This doesn't attract any unwanted creatures. But if you locked an unwilling guest (prisoner) in there, the door will not go away, and unnatural creatures will sense it and be drawn to that place and cause trouble if they're not intelligent
[9:46 PM] Kailea and Runa actually fall under that type of creature, they're unnatural magical manipulations of life. So they could sense if this happened nearby and would be compelled to go there and open the door.
[9:47 PM] It's like, when a soul world is holding a prisoner, all the unnatural creatures sense it because it's "wrong", in a sort of sense because magic is a part of their own being, they can tell it's a perversion of how magic is supposed to be used so they're sensitive to its presence
