So I think recently i’ve come to realize that horror movies don’t make me scared so much as stressed out. That’s apparently my version of being scared. I know horror movie tropes and film style well enough to know when a slew of possible scares will occur. So that being said, Annabelle: Creation is probably the only movie that has legitimately scarred me. And I only say that because the visuals were creepy and pretty horrifying, they threw nice newer twists on what is typically done in certain scenarios, and after a certain point (relatively early on in the movie too) there was no real moment that I wasn’t feeling super stressed out and nervous (which again, is my version of being scarred apparently).
Darkness never really bothered me. BUT BOY DID THEY MAKE ME BOTHERED BY IT.
There was also a ton of really nice funny moments in there. My favorite being (paraphrasing) “WHO CARES LETS RUN”
