New PR. Not as heavy as I want but we're moving. #kgbstrength
I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps. Mahatma Gandhi
Humility is an amazing tool.
It can build and rebuild relationships. It can soothe most any pain. It can tame a lion in the simplest way. It can allow a champion to share their glory with every man and woman witnessing.
Humility is also very challenging.
In the face of pain, fear, ego, and pride, the simple act of stating who we are, faults and flaws and weaknesses and all, is a monumental task.
Yesterday, I made two statements about my workout that were false. It was in fact 50 degrees and not 20 and I only managed to accomplish 20 stone carries, not the 40 that I professed.
I am not admitting this here out of guilt nor am I claiming that this act is one of great humility and grace.
But humility like most behaviors is a learned one. It is like a muscle; it has to be worked and flexed and used to grow strong.
I did not give a clear picture of my work. I did not speak the truth. For that, I am sorry.
The growth of these great truths - humility, joy, grace, forgiveness, and compassion, among many others - is what living, working, lifting, loving is all about.
Thank you for accepting me as a flawed man and allowing my the chance to retrace those steps and emerge a healthier person.
I am very grateful.
Get Strong. That's it. That's the game. Mentally, Emotionally. Physically.
It isn't the size or the cuts or how you look on the beach, those are just the perks.
It's about knowing what you are made of, being up for the challenge, ready when the door to opportunity opens. Life is a beautiful race between yourself and the lesser versions of you that you're outpacing.
So get out ahead and enjoy the scenery a bit as you lap the old you.
You can do it with just your body. You don't need anything else. The gentleman from Tee Major Fitness isn't bullshitting here. He is the real deal. Real strong. And he is using the one tool that we all have in common: the human body.
What a marvel idea.
Leave the excuses and your old self and get going. It's going to be a hell of a run.
The Seals.
The Elite. The Special Forces. Known for their mental and physical tenacity in the face of all odds. They don't meet the standards, they set the standards. They raise the bar.
After seeing the film, Lone Survivor, I want to see how I stack up. How my physical preparedness matches up.
At the end of my deload week in two weeks, I am going to attempt the Seal fit test.
Measure my grit. My determination. My capacity.
I will post when I am going to do the test, on that day and then post the times and results.
Anyone feel froggy enough to join me?
