This was a part of something, I decided to scrap. Still liked how this turned out tho. It's a headcanon of mine that Saïx / Isa hears voices in head. Whenever he activates berserk, he says some of the things the voices are saying.

Cute/adorable things Sora does that he is completely unaware of but everyone else believes must be protected at all costs:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Sora picked up Pooh bears stoutness exercises as something he does when he hasn’t been running around all day and feels like he needs to work up an appetite.

He is fond of rubbing noses with people. This is a habit he picked up from his mother as a way of showing platonic affection. He once even did it to Aerith who squished his cheeks out of cuteness aggression back.

Sora likes to make Bento boxes for people. He’s been learning a lot from Remy and so he starts making food for people when he thinks they’re not eating enough (even though he himself doesn’t eat enough sometimes). These bentos have the cutest little rice ball characters you have ever seen in them. Yuffie gets so conflicted about eating them that her phone is filled with pictures of her lunches.

He puts his head on people’s shoulders when he’s tired. Sora has a habit of loosing energy very quickly, and so when he does finally get tired he will plonk his head down on any available trusted shoulder.

He bounces on the balls of his feet when he’s excited.

He has chronic kicked puppy face when he’s sad. It kills Riku and Kairi. They are not immune to it at all. Mostly because he doesn’t pull it out when he wants something, he’s not even aware he does it! However, when he’s genuinely upset he looks like a sad puppy dog and it’s heartbreaking for everyone who witnesses. Not even Squall is immune.

He still holds people’s hands when he crosses roads. Goofy has never minded this, but Donald was mightily confused. He’s also done it with Squall, Cloud and Tifa, who all got very confussled.

He snuffles in his sleep. He’ll nose into pillows or someone’s side before inevitably spreading star fish style on the bed (this, Riku has deemed his “cuteness distraction tactic”. Make the target think you’re adorable before pushing them out of bed.).

And lastly he smiles with his whole face. Roxas has hypothesised that his other is incapable of only giving a half smile or a little uptick of the lips. Sora either grins cheekily or looks devastated, there is no in between.

Everyone knows about the wide headcanon that Sora is a very touchy person with his friends and free to give our hugs or hold their hand but I raise you: touch averse Sora.

This is brought nearly entirely by that KH2 scene with Kairi. She’s one of, if not his closest, friend and when she, after just escaping being kidnapped and used as a pawn by the Organization, goes to immediately hug Sora, his first reaction isn’t to hug her back like you’d think, but instead to hold his hands up and look confused as to what to do with them at first.

Sure he latched onto Riku after finding out he was himself, but I’d like to think of this as an emotional exception. We don’t really see him initiate touch in most of the series, instead reacting to others, besides a few scenes here or there where he’ll pull Donald and Goofy towards him playfully or hug them after being asleep for a year.

And that brings me to the point I have where he has to open up to someone first. Sora is a very emotionally repressed person, constantly slapping on positivity and determination and refusing to break down even when the world is against him. He’s war-torn after saving the world three times over. And who was by his side most of it? Even in the final fight? Donald and Goofy. They earned their spots on Sora’s “allowed to touch” list. He’s open around them, at least physically, when he’s usually reserved.

I don’t have much canon evidence to go off of, but I just think it’s a fun twist to the usual. Let Sora hate being touched unless you’re close to him!

Keyblade Wielders and Their Keyblades — An Analytic Post (Part 1)

I don't have any kind of intro like in some fancy essays. I'm just obsessed with Keyblades and how heavy/light they would be, long/short, and how their Wielders would use them to fight (specifically, how each of their canonically-given Keyblades suit them and only them).

AFTER-THOUGHT: Uh. I'm tired. So I'm gonna go over the other Keyblades... in another part. Enjoy the first four ones I chose. u_u

KAIRI — DESTINY'S EMBRACE

Slightly on the short-end compared to other Keyblades, and seems relatively harmless (partly due to how "girly" it looks because girly shit is harmless amirite /s). It's curvaceous and adorned with flowers, but the flowers are still made out of metal— they cut very easily into the flesh.

The advantage of having flowers as the teeth is that they can get stuck in your opponent's skin, allowing you to use the momentum to pull them to you or throw them around (similar to alligators and their bites). It's like having tiny circular saw-blades.

Contrary to most Wielders' belief, this Keyblade is one of the heaviest. Riku lifted it once, and although he was strong enough to do it without breaking a sweat, he was still surprised (he expected his own Keyblade to be heavier).

Due to its weight, this Keyblade is perfect for critical hits, and for smashing your opponent into the ground. No need to slash your enemy multiple times: you catch them with the flowery teeth, then use one single hit to reduce them to mush. The hard part is getting close enough to your opponent, but once it's done they have very little chance of escaping.

As reference, I think the way Kairi would actually hit with her Keyblade would be similar to Alice's move with the fully-upgraded Hobby Horse in Alice Madness Returns. Once you're caught in that combo, there's no escaping it.

One of the obvious disadvantages of this Keyblade is its weight: unless you're caught in the momentum of your combo hit, you can't hold it with a single hand. You're also quite vulnerable while using it, because it slows you down. Another drawback: due to how heavy the Keyblade is, you can't really stop once you start swinging it. This means you won't be able to stop your combo right away, and it also leaves your body vulnerable to side attacks.

I know Kairi's Keyblade looks like it's meant for magic because it's girly and all but, maybe it's a hot take, I think she would be lowkey shit at it during an actual fight: her Keyblade is short, so unless she's healing herself or standing right next to her allies, girlie won't be able to Curaga the team's way out of it really far. She's more of a brute force/hammer girl, honestly.

VANITAS — VOID GEAR

One of the longest Keyblades, it is lighter than it looks. For comparison, Kairi's Keyblade is heavier, and so is Riku's Braveheart.

This Keyblade is made for critical hits, but also to keep your opponent far away from you. The teeth are shaped like a cog's. I am God in this post so my headcanon is that they can shift from left to right in a reverse-clockwork fashion, depending on what is needed.

Imma be real I don't think the eyes do anything except being creepy af. I guess they follow you around, maybe they could help the wielder predict where the next hit is coming from. But they probably have a tendency of staring at the wielder.

That's going to happen with any of the BBS characters' Keyblades, so I'll put it for Vanitas's as well: I think his Keyblade can change shape if need be. Not just the cog thing mentioned above, I think he can easily turn his Keyblade into nunchucks or a flail by breaking down the shaft (which has chains on it).

I actually think all Keyblades can change shape (not just as vehicles, as different fighting weapons), it's just that the BBS characters are the only Wielders left with that knowledge. And probably don't think of telling the others because it's such an obvious thing to them.

Void Gear can be held with only one hand, and is a good choice for wielders who mix combat and magic in their fighting style. The length of the Keyblade allows you to cast spells from a distance, as well as hit your enemies without getting too close to them.

The main disadvantage of this Keyblade is also its length: because of it, it is very important that you maintain some distance with your opponent. If they get too close, you won't be able to hit them.

You better be fast if you have this Keyblade; similar to Wayward Wind, Void Gear is a Keyblade meant to hit opponents multiple times in a row. The head of the blade also makes it able to land a few critical hits, but it's still a Keyblade that requires speed to be used at its full capacity. If you were to try a combo hit with it, the first few hits would be quick slashes, and the last one a bigger, stronger hit to smash your opponent.

In case anyone's wondering: putting aside experience on the battlefield and physical abilities, Kairi's Destiny's Embrace would smash Vanitas's Void Gear if he ever got caught in her combo hit. Let's just say she's one of the worst opponents he could be fighting, Keyblade-wise (unless he's able to keep her at bay).

RIKU — BRAVEHEART

Braveheart is also a long Keyblade, albeit shorter than Void Gear (for comparison). Braveheart looks quite heavy, but it's actually lighter than most people think. I will say, I believe it's still heavier than Kingdom Key and Void Gear, but it's also lighter than Earthshaker and Destiny's Embrace.

So. It's a literal house key. If you've ever had that kind of house key, you know that shit doesn't look sharp but it is (rip my fingers). Braveheart is basically a short spear: it's light enough to maneuver in close combat (as well as throw if needed), but still strong enough to not break under pressure. If used correctly, it's possible to penetrate shields and even bend them a bit, rendering them useless.

The head of Braveheart's blade doesn't have any barb; this means it can't really get stuck in your opponent's shield (or flesh), thus making it easier for them to pull it out. However, the sides of the blade are all made of sharp "holes" that can grip on and tear. It's always a nice touch.

(Technically, if the Keyblade is plunged very far, the start of the blade could act as a barb. Technically.)

I'll probably repeat it throughout the post, but longer Keyblades = better suited for magic users. Mostly because magic users usually fight long-distance, and also use magic for the whole group, not just themselves. If you're alone on the battlefield, having a short Keyblade to cast a Curaga isn't bad, but once you have to throw Firaga at your opponent or heal your partner that's 20 feet away... it's more complicated. Riku doesn't use magic a ton, but he's able to do some minor support thanks to Braveheart's length.

Braveheart is well-balanced: its weight stays more or less the same despite how long it is, compared to Destiny's Embrace (the head of the blade is heavier) or Void Gear (the shaft is the lightest and most fragile part).

Oh yeah, uh. Compared to Destiny's Embrace, Kingdom Key or even Void Gear who have clear shafts (that aren't very sharp, especially in Kingdom Key's case), Braveheart is just. It's the most sword-like Keyblade because it's composed of a hilt and a blade. It was the same for Soul Eater/Way to the Dawn, so I guess Riku just likes when 90% of his weapon is sharp lol.

VENTUS — WAYWARD WIND

Okay so I know the wiki says it has a "slight boost in Strength" but. Bullshit. Look at this baby. Actually the reason why I'm talking about Wayward Wind right now rather than Rainfell (who is also interesting) is because Venty Wenty really provided us with the perfect example of a "weak" Keyblade being perfectly fitted to its user's fighting style.

Since Wayward Wind is short, even shorter than Destiny's Embrace, you'd think it's only suited for close combat, and technicallyyyyy you're not wrong. But it's also one of the lightest Keyblades, if not THE lightest.

Wayward Wind is very aerodynamic-friendly. Imma be real I'm no bird or plane expert so. Don't expect fancy terms here. However, me thinks Wayward Wind's blade is shaped a tiiiny bit like a bird's wing, and it also has, like. A giant hole in it. Long story short, it's a perfect Keyblade if you're able to move fast, because it's not gonna get slowed down by the air/wind. It's actually going to catch it perfectly to get faster, so you know. That's nice.

I don't think you can use Wayward Wind if you're reliant on critical hits and reach: it's supposed to make a maximum amount of damage within a short time-frame. Basically, it's like that scene in Jurassic Park where the Compsognathus take tiny pecks at the characters to weaken them and then eat them; except Venty Wenty's alone, and you're still cooked.

Because Wayward Wind is short, you need to get closer to your opponent; like with Destiny's Embrace vs Void Gear (to use examples of short vs long Keyblades), the difficult part is managing to get close. Wielders with long Keyblades will struggle dodging hits from shorter Keyblades once in close-combat.

Coming back to Wayward Wind's "slight boost in Strength", I will be fair. It does has it, and it's all thanks to the blade and the pointy teeth. Still one of the weakest Keyblades overall, do NOT pick if you can't waltz around your opponent.

I think Wayward Wind's other form is actually quite simple: see the lines on the shaft?

I think those lines are basically made to show where the shaft can grow longer. Kinda like with splints, or vacuum cleaners. If Ventus really wants that reach, he can have it by literally extending the shaft of his Keyblade. Also, the blade looks screwed on the hilt/shaft, so I believe he could unscrew it if he wanted to change it/improve it.

I actually wish I had more to say on this Keyblade right now but I really do believe it's not a good Keyblade to have unless you know how to wield it. If anything, it's probably both the weakest Keyblade and also the hardest to wield, because it's so tied to Ventus's fighting style that. It's kinda useless if anyone else tries using it. Venty Wenty has to be special again 😔​ /lh
