Extra: The Bistro’s Little Chef

Yeah... actually I don’t have a lot to say about that, I just wanted an excuse to spam you with tons of beautiful/adorable Sora pictures LOL

However, I can say that they included Rémy with the utmost care. The little fella looks so adorable, the way he controls Sora just like he controlled Linguini in his movie is so cool and only enhanced by the fact that Sora’s hair is so spiky and he holds onto the spikes xD I actually wished we had more cutscenes with Sora and Rémy; while the minigames are cute and charming, the biggest charm is in the cutscenes where Rémy initially takes control of Sora, first making him collect the fruits and then making him cook. The animation is superb and Haley is doing an amazing job as always :3

Also - how cute is it that they call Rémy little Chef?? I mean it makes sense, they don’t know his name, but it’s so precious (and I know Linguini does, too, but aaaaah)

Kingdom Hearts 3 Playthrough Part 1 - Opening and Prologue

My thoughts so far. Still avoiding spoilers for the parts of the game I haven’t played yet, so when in doubt, please no spoilers in the comments unless it was about content I covered in this particular analysis :) 

Starting the Game

Chikai orchestral version - gorgeous. Absolutely lovely. Kaoru Wada (er, at least I think he’s the one who does the orchestrations?) has outdone himself again. Really liked the brass especially.

The menu art is lovely, of course - Sora holding the paopu fruit is a natural evolution of the menu art for KH1 and KH2 and a sign of things to come I hope.

And Dearly Beloved got me emotional because how could it not? Yoko Shimomura did a fantastic job with this version. It’s got a very wistful, tender quality to it. I like how it seems like an evolution of the DDD version of Dearly Beloved, too. What a great way to start the game.

The Opening

I didn’t listen to Face My Fears until I watched the opening, and boy was it worth the wait. Great song, very catchy, and it deserves to be on the Billboard Top 100. Excellent vocals from Utada Hikaru and I really liked what Skrillex brought to the table, too.

Unfortunately I do not have screenshots to share (blocked sharing function and all), but a few thoughts overall:

Sora’s opening line is so good. Borrowing the full quote from @angel-with-a-pipette​: 

They can take your world. They can take your heart. Cut you loose from all you know. But if it’s your fate… then every step forward will always be a step closer to home.

Sounds like Sora is gonna go through the ringer... but notice that note of hope at the end? Because that is what KH is about, there is ALWAYS hope 

Also... closer to home... makes me think of when Sora say’s “We’re home” to Kairi at the end of KH2... does he consider Kairi his home? 

The chess theme with Sora vs. Xehanort is great

The opening did a great job of showing what has come before... and probably what still is yet to come

“Watch me cry all my tears” - Sora, should I be concerned? D: 

Purple is sometimes associated with evil/corruption in Japanese culture - notice how purple is really associated with Xehanort in the opening

Kairi’s piece is the star-shaped piece confirmed!

Kairi and Sora’s pieces are the ones standing against Xehanort at the end, reflected by how they’re the only ones on the battlefield until the others join them

Guys this opening is so blatantly Sokai it’s not even funny and I am LIVING for it

I love how door(s?) opened to save the lost hearts 

Seven hearts to save - Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Roxas, Naminé, Xion, and...?

Sora’s holding Xehanort’s piece at the end - representing a checkmate, perhaps?

Dive to the Heart

Can I just say how absolutely gorgeous the Heart Stations look now? Like actual stained glass, which is probably what Nomura intended all long. And now the graphics have reached the point where they can look like that

The way Sora went through the mirror to change from his KH1 to his KH2 self was really cool - reminds me of all the time Aqua spent looking at a mirror in 0.2

Showing Sora’s memories as pictures floating in the background was also a really nice touch

I chose Balance (yay for the Sora, Donald, and Goofy memory!) and Guardian (yay Naminé!). Guardian has, historically, given you some good defense abilities early on in the game so I thought it was a good bet

The tidal wave that brought Sora to the sky realm looked amazing. Dive into the Heart (Destati) and Fragments of Sorrow both sounded amazing as well

Wouldn’t be an awakening without a Darkside battle, now would it?

Fire and water magic, huh? To my knowledge this is the first time a Kingdom Hearts game has included water magic, so consider me intrigued

Can’t remember when this happened exactly, but Cable Town looked gorgeous and I loved seeing the full version of Xehanort and Eraqus’s chess match

Sora’s theme sounds great, really all the music sounds fantastic so far, very great reorchestrations of familiar pieces with sharp, clear sound

Playing the ending scenes of 0.2 (technically II.9) was a nice touch to get everyone back up to speed

And this! I love this! What a fun touch to add to the game! 

Next up: Olympus Coliseum :) (and a lot more screenshots, trust me!)

The final part of my Kingdom Hearts 3 playthrough journey! Cannot believe its come to an end! Thank you for bing so patient during my handling of this playthrough! I have so many feelings about the ending and the game as a whole - However they will be stripped down in a review that will be out very soon!

YES!! I cheered at this moment! I love how they finally found out it’s been Terra all along! Too bad the two of them never get to talk and Riku never gets to talk about his promise to him, about how he’s glad the man who passed his Keyblade onto him was safe again, how interesting it is that they both suffered under the Darkness... all the lost potential... but at least he looks hot I guess:
