Also, while we’re on the subject of Khalidah and il’Sanke, I just realized that where magic and sunlight and vampire hunters failed, the thing that got Khalidah in the end was il’Sanke and Brot’an being stubborn at him until they all just died.
Goddamn.
(spoilers) you know i'm still confused about how Kalidah possessed il'Sanke. wasn't he wearing the same kind of amulet that prevented Kalidah from taking the prince, or did I gloss over something?
You know, I’m not sure? He did have an amulet that matched the prince’s but I don’t remember if it said anything about it being able to protect him from possession.
The whole ordeal was pretty confusing for me, too, though. Everyone seemed really sure that Magiere, Chane, and the dogs were automatically immune from possession (for... reasons?), and everyone seemed to think that Wynn would be the most likely target and not, you know, the guy who helped keep Khalidah imprisoned for all those centuries who also has powerful wizard abilities and connections to the prince. I feel like they should have gone into that situation expecting il’Sanke to be targeted and taken precautions to protect him, specifically. Would have saved a lot of trouble.
It wasn’t super clear why their plan to burn Khalidah to death when he escaped his last host failed, either. It seemed like he shouldn’t have even survived that, whether il’Sanke was protected against him or not.
There was a lot about that possession that didn’t quite make sense.
So I decided to combine 2 of my unfinished poems and this is the outcome:
Eyes wide open. Mind sealed closed. I feel you sinking, stealing my soul. I hate the way I was, the way I used to be. Why in the world do you do this to me? I miss your skin, the way is smells, the feel against mine. You know me so well, every thought, every sign. You hold me close, I pull away. I have to leave, run, get away. I try to fight it but you conceal me. Into the abyss no where to flee.
Sometimes I think I'm too harsh on people...
But then again people are stupid as fuck.
