The Morthwyl Forges and House of Gwaed
Great House Morthwyl-Gwaed is the common way to refer to the malgam-nation that coats the north-western regions of the world - but it is, as noted, an amalgam, a union between the seperate Deepblood houses of Morthwyl and Gwaed, both of which have a long and storied history and vital role in the functioning of Kharackia.
House Gwaed is the oldest of the Houses, being the first we have a recorded history for. It was their scientists who uncovered and utilised the first cloning vats, and they who made the original modifications that allowed our species to support a stable population before their colonisation of fallen regions. Today, they are the centre of much scientific research, and are known for the integration of bodily modification into their everyday life - most every citizen sports at least one form of augmentation, with the most popular being a device that allows the user to tailor their hormones to produce a specific body for themselves.
Forge Morthwyl is another extremely old house, being the settlement formed in the ruined industrial hub of the world - fortunately, due to the design of the city, many of the lower levels were entirely intact. It has long since specialised in the most advanced technologies and economies of scale, becoming the production hub for many artefacts that cannot be forged in other regions. It is the ultimate destination of the nomadic Scavenger trains when departing from another House, and it is from Forge Morthwyl that they return, often accompanied by titanic war machines and other machinery.
Forge Morthwyl-Gwaed is the centre of the Steelclad faith, and is the most well-defended territory upon Kharackia, with Port Tywyll falling into a close second.
