For the WIP name game, I'm curious about Umbra 👀
Umbra is my "I promise it's not abandoned" post-Order 66 Jedi OC fic! I have the first half posted, and I very much want to get back to writing the second half to the point I can start posting that. 30K words are posted, with another 25K drafted. It is definitely a novel length fic and is pretty much entirely OCs other than brief appearances of Dex and Bail Organa.
Thematically it is heavily inspired by the RotS novelization, Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, and the Republic/Dark Times comics. It's about trauma, and response to a sudden sweep of authoritarianism. I started posting it in 2020, but have been rambling it about it here on Tumblr for much longer. I should really get back to it with *gestures at everything* but unfortunately Tolkien's world is what's eating my brain right now, so I would need to put myself back in the mindset of the GFFA.
Huge shout outs to @suss-urrus for being interested in hearing me ramble about the fic and my OCs A LOT and doing the first drawings of Cy and Khlora on top of all the art she was doing in art school already. Here's the very first art she made of them in like 2013??? which means so much to me 🥲🥲🥲
And to @thecrowmaiden who has been my beta/editor and has pushed me to really take my writing to another level, as well as also blessing me with her art! I can't thank her enough for helping me edit the 30K that I have posted. The fic would not exist in even the halfway completed form that it does without both of them and I owe them so much.

The title comes from my space nerd side, an umbra is the darkest part of an eclipse, and I'm invoking the same vein of stellar imagery as the RotS novelization.
This is my longest fic, both in terms of word count and time working on it. The Jedi Master (Cy, male, human) and Padawan (Khlora, female, half Zabrak/half human) came about over 15 years ago while I was in high school, and their story and characterization have grown a lot in that time.
I was left unsupervised with a larger than expected holiday bonus one year and got a commission from Doug Wheatley of Cy and Khlora
Since it came about in the late 00's it is very much based in Legends with a sprinkling of TCW. I have always been writing it to feel like it would fit in with the "A Clone Wars Novel" books.

I do really want to get back to it because we're about to hit the part where my third Jedi OC, Raen (non-binary, human) is about to intersect with Cy and I'm really excited to start posting their Force Bond QPR in the fic proper rather than just in flashbacks. Raen is a Jedi healer, and that has also been really fun to write!
