[ For worry of seeming rude, Peter tries not to give off too much surprise at such a sincere welcome, and the confetti-sparks of excitement Mei seemed to give off just by him being there-- but surprised or not he still reflects it back just as brightly, grinning and bouncing on his heels.  And that’s before he's met the two cutest dogs he’s ever seen in his life!  Laying eyes on them hits him like an actual physical impact, like a gust of wind that knocks him over, laughing. ]

[ His high-pitched glee is cut off momentarily as he tries his best to fuss over them both equally without getting toppled. ]

“Mei! It’s good to see you again.” Gabriel greets her with his usual sunny smile, and he welcomes her inside. “Perfect timing, I was just finishing lunch. Do you like egg tarts at all? It seems I made too many.”

       “I need to talk to you about something important. Both of you.” 

       That’s how he’d phrased it when he called; a vast understatement, really. This conversation, as far a Kiku is concerned, is more than important, it’s absolutely crucial. What does anything else matter in his attempt to redeem himself of past sins, if he can’t face his past in the only way that means something? 

       That’s the thought he holds in his mind when he shows up at Lin’s residence. It’s been a while since he last visited the island, for good reason; he hasn’t felt welcome, and these days, he cares about that. Keeping his distance seemed the only respectful thing he could do until he was ready to face the consequences of his actions. Even now, as he stands in front of the door, that’s something he dreads. But it’s time, and Kiku has made peace with the fact that whatever happens after he has said what he needs to will be out of his hands. If they send him back home with harsh words, he’ll understand, but... They seem tired of this, too. If they forgive him, it’ll be more than he’s earned. Hopefully, this might at least start him down the path of reconcilliation. 

      ... He’s stalling. The churning in his guts settles down, finally, and he breathes in deeply before ringing the doorbell.

Nights in Las Vegas were always so much better than the days. The lights alone were enough to attract the masses like moths to a very sparkly but very hot flame. Not that it was all danger and rushing excitement. There are slow and easy places in the city, it’s just that the casinos were what drew the most attention. The personification of Nevada walks through the crowds with an easy pace, calmly fiddling with a poker chip in one hand. Red eyes observe the people with a neutral stare.

Humans were simple and easy, like ants. It was almost kind of sad... but as long as they funneled money into the city and his state, Kit was perfectly happy with it. Though one does get his attention. She stands out easy just by manner of dress, secondarily by personality. She seems excited. Very calmly he walks over and observes for a few moments, slowly tilting his head to the left.

“... You look like you’re having fun, butterfly.”

The title isn’t mean to be patronizing or flirty. She honestly just reminded him of a butterfly the longer he watched her.

💔 A way to make them disappointed, mad, or not impressed.

A way to make him disappointed and mad is to promise something to him and not follow though on your promise, even if you have a good reason. For all his skepticism and distrust he really takes promises seriously and holds them in high importance so not doing them is a real let down and something he really takes personally, though at the same time depending on things its easy to make it up to him if he really likes you.

a way to make him mad and not impressed is to put on airs, act like you’re better than him or flaunt your wealth or good fortune. He really likes down to earth more honest and humble people and just dislikes and is annoyed by those who hold themselves higher.
