I know this seems very empty but please know I like Bermuda! A fellow Reborn fan how can I not like them hahaha. No fr though I think they're so interesting but I think I needed more time with them to really enjoy them! Also when I say I like their design and their aesthetic I mostly mean them when they're cursed as a baby. Idk what that not-cursed appearance is /lh

Kawahira

I don't know if I ever actually mentioned it here but I actually love Kawahira a lot lol. HE's so interesting!!! THERE'S SO MUCH TO DISSECT THERE WITH HIS CHARACTER!!! I wish to cut him open and discover all his secrets <3

Sepira

I know I know 😭She had no lines and had like two canon appearances in the manga but!! I love her!!! Your honor I love her!!!!! Maybe it's the Giglio Nero bias talking but I just feel like there is so so much potential here to explore!!! LIKE!!! WDYM she's one of the original earthlings who also started the arcobaleno curse but then she's like "actually... I think humans can help us in a way that doesn't harm us let's trust them <3" Also without her there wouldn't be a khr plot!!!! She was the one to give Giotto what would eventually become the vongola rings!!!! LIKE TALK ABOUT SOMEONE WHO HAUNTS THE NARRATIVE. I love her... Sephira my beloved

Let me summarize it for those of us who don't read the replies in posts: "Freed from the curse Yuni would outlive everyone"

And like, yeah, absolutely true!

In my case, I'll admit that I totally forgot to do that math, because if the rest of the Arcobaleno got freed from their baby curse, then Yuni obviously got rid of her short-lifespan curse! How does someone forget something like that?

Anyway, considering Yuni's ancestor is Sepira, who was the same species as Kawahira, then certainly she could have a long lifespan now (and outlive everyone).

But! I definitely think she won't.

I mean, I love angst as much as the next person, but (un)fortunately I don't think Yuni is heading in that direction.

Let's recap what we know of Sepira:

Sepira is the same specie as Kawahira/Checker Face, a True Earthling as opposed to New Earthling (humans)

From what we understand, Sepira was at least more proactive than Kawahira at trying to find a solution to the Tri-ni-sette as well as the burden it had on the Arcobaleno

Sepira was the one who decided to give the Vongola Rings to Giotto (and its hinted that this happened BEFORE the establishment of the Vongola Famiglia, so while he was still leader of his vigilante group) and keep the Mare Rings in her newly formed famiglia, the Giglio Nero

Sepira could see the future

She was Giglio Nero Prima

Let's recap what we don't know about her:

How she died

If she was an Arcobaleno

While this inscription on a wall with Sepira's birthmark on it might suggest otherwise, it's unlikely that Sepira was a Sky Arcobaleno at any point in time. If she had been then Luce, her descendant, would have already been in possession of the Sky pacifier on the Fated Day.

So Sepira wasn't an Arcobaleno (someone, please, go tell the KHR wikia to change that). Then how did she die? Kawahira and Sepira are the same species, but he's alive and she's not, so what is the difference between them? How did she die in a way that wasn't considered unnatural enough for Kawahira to remark on it?

Well, I think the answer is in their way of living!

Sepira decided to live among and like a human, while Kawahira decided to live like the cryptid he is. So it makes sense that Sepira's lifespan adapted to that of a normal human being (and why Kawahira talks like she's died in a natural way, because she has!). And it would make even more sense that her descendants would be even more human if she procreated with a human. Unless they self-reproduce which explains the absence of both Aria's and Yuni's father and why Gamma had no idea Aria had a kid.

Sorry, angst, but I don't think Yuni will be going down the path of "I have a longer lifespan than all the people I know so I will watch them die one day".

I'm not sure Sephira was an arcobaleno, unless she turned into an arco way later. In that panel, Check Face says that the Arco are human sacrifices, but it goes against the fact that Sephira is not a human nor a sacrifice, since she's alive for centuries and we had different arco generations already before the creations of the rings (Giotto met Bermuda who was already a former arcobaleno, and he already was wearing the ring that he got from Sephira herself).

fair points! and i agree that panel is ambiguous and leaves room to different interpretations. but i think it's, like, 99% safe to say sepira was an arco at some point. here's a clearer version of that panel i zoomed in on:

like, you still can't make out the pacifier 100%, but this is obviously a pacifier she's wearing. like, from context, you know? and it might or might not be the sky pacifier, but again, knowing all else that we know for a fact, it very likely is.

that said, that in itself still raises questions too, for sure. and i agree it seems counterproductive and/or illogical for sepira to have been an arco too, but i explained here how and why i could see it happen. as for the fact there were multiple generations of arco between the creation of the pacifiers and the rings, you're right and i had never actually realized it before!!! but i don't think that her long lifespan as an earthling necessarily goes against her having been the sky arco?

like, we already know thanks to luce, aria and uni, that the same generation of arco can and has to have different sky arco because of the short lifespan of the sky arco. so i don't think it's a stretch to assume the reverse can just as easily happen, the same sky arco for different generations of arco. on the other hand, we know that sepira, as an earthling, had naturally a long lifespan. and they were still five of them left when they created the pacifiers, but only two of them left (sepira and kawahira) by the time they created the rings too (which they had to because they were only the two of them left anymore by that point).

looking at those facts together, i can personally explain and make sense of sepira having been the sky arco in two different ways: 1) she's an earthling, a species with a long lifespan who are meant and are naturally suited to look after the trinisette. so to me it isn't a stretch to think the short lifespan curse of the sky pacifier wouldn't have affected her, which means she could have been the sky arco of all generations of arco from when they first created the pacifiers and until her long lifespan naturally ran out and she died.

or 2) she wasn't the first sky arco nor was she an arco at all at first, but then the five of them remaining kept dying one by one too until only the two of them were left, and before they resolved to create the rings too, the weight of the pacifiers became too much for humans to bear it alone, and so they added earthlings flames to the mix to sustain them a generation more until they created the rings. and then she does go on to die because of the short lifespan curse or it's coincidentally by the time her long lifespan will run out soon, but either way she had the time to first give the vongola rings to giotto and create the giglio nero to look after the mare rings. (and then the sky pacifier may or not have been passed down strictly through sepira's bloodine depending on your headcanons.)

Kawahira's hand wrapped itself around her neck, sharp and piercing, his Mist Flames practically suffocating her, and Uni could barely hold back her own snarl, baring her teeth in challenge.

"You really thought you could depend on Sepira's line for all eternity?" She hissed, jerking harshly when his hand tightened further.

"You were supposed to be a Sky, you foolish girl," he snapped, nails beginning to sink into the skin of her throat until they were seconds away from drawing blood, "your blood ensured nothing else, your duty demanded nothing else, and you throw it away for pride?"

"You told me I was born to die!" She snapped, voice coming out in a croak, grating and raspy, "You really think that wouldn't have some kind of impact on a kids Flames?!"

"You were meant to put up with it, you little..."

"Unfortunate," she rasped, hands clawing at his wrist, "now, put me down so we can fucking work on this like Godsdamned adults."

Their fingers stay intertwined. The sun sinks deeper into the horizon, pulling a wave of dark blues and purples in its wake. "I still may die," Sepira says, and her heart aches painfully. "I can only see up to a certain point in the future, now, although it won't come for a while yet. But I think it will be okay. The details are a little strange and fuzzy, but... Most of the time, she knows better than to ask too deeply about the kinds of things that Sepira sees. It's a heavy burden to bear. And yet, this time, the temptation is too great.
