Kick Start Me: Regeria Hope
So I wrote a review of the first chapter of this game not to long ago (The game has been updated since then but I haven’t got a chance to revist). I thought the game was pretty good despite it’s few problems. The Visual novel game is now kickstarting the other 4 chapters of it’s story. The games intended to be a twist on the Ace Attorney series giving us a female lead among other new features that are being added into future characters. Some of the cooler things that the developer is planning are choices that really matter such as taking the fall in a court case because a bribe, bribing the Jury, doing the under handed stuff we all know a lawyer or two has at least been offered.
I think a lot of the information might be better read in my review since this game was actually one of my first Visual Novel games. I can’t really speak to how it compares to what it’s taking inspiration from. However, I can speak to Nathan Low, the lead creator on this game, has been nothing but amazing in our interactions. He took criticism in stride, just looking at the kickstarter and updates on the free version he takes everything into consideration and fixes anything he can. Nathan also told me in our brief exchanges that he was going to have more inclusive characters as well during the following episodes.
I do think one of the most imporant things in kickstarters is a good idea of where your money is going and if they are asking for too much. The budget seems perfectly reasonable and Nathan has committed to putting another 2000 bucks into the game if the kickstarter makes it. I don’t think it’s likely the game reaches a lot of it’s stretch goals just given the current traction but they are all things that would totally improve the game. These stretch goals aren't things like everyone gets an extra free booster pack that means nothing like i’ve seen on some kickstarters so I totally approve. I do think the 10 dollar level should have been the standard level to get the game since 12 dollars does feel like it’s pushing it. However, if you think this is interesting but don’t want to commit the 12 bucks at the 3 and 5 dollar levels you get the second chapter for nothing extra and you can already get the first one for free.
At the end of the day the first chapter is out for free and I totally think it’s worth downloading on your phone or PC to play it. The kickstarter is almost over so do it a favor and give it a look. I think this game is totally worth supporting thanks to Nathan Low alone. Beyond that the game also is representing woman in a good way and that’s never a bad thing. The artist has done a great job with the designs, the music is good so far, the jokes may be a bit hit or miss but it does hit more then enough times.
