Two more Tarots! Jadeveon as The Chariot and Ja'far as The Lovers!
The Chariot is all about moving forward. It's not just about charging ahead, but rather seeing where you want to go, picking up the reins, taking control of inner and outer forces, and directing everything forward. Hence, it is a card of great determination and confidence, motivation, and leadership. Without these, there's no making the chariot go where you want it to go. The Chariot is a card about overcoming conflicts and moving forward in a positive direction. One needs to keep going on and through sheer hard work and commitment, he will be victorious.
Jadeveon was a well-known gladiator in Solimol when she was younger. She eventually changed professions to a mercenary to scratch that itch of wanting to see the world. She got married with a member of her mercenary team. When she had her child she decided to settle down for a while in Kipintine. It was soon after that her husband died. When her kid finally flew the coop, she took to traveling again. She often heard of trouble brewing in the central-continental area. Eventually, she settled down permanently in Avil, becoming close friends with Ja'far. She is a great-grandmother now.
The lovers don't always mean finding love, it often indicates choices to be made. We all have internal masculine and feminine sides of us. These two must be balanced in order to find peace within oneself. The Lovers represent heaven and earth, union, love, communication, balance, and duality. The Lovers card is about finding that other half of ourselves. It might be a person, but it can also be anything that completes us, that speaks to us - a career, a cause, a religion. It usually involves us making a choice to go for that something and so feel whole, unified.
Ja'far is a transgender male, meaning he was born as a female and chose to be a male instead later in life. He has lots of self-doubt that stems from this. He is a painter that lives in the city of Avil and is good friends with Jadeveon who is a huge mother figure to him.
More character backstory! Woo!
Yet another set of tarot cards! This time with Azerail as Strength and Tin the Flying Turtle as The Hanged Man!
Strength predicts the triumphant conclusion to a major life problem, situation, or temptation through the strength of character. It is a very happy card if you are fighting an illness or recovering from injury. Courage, strength, inner will, optimism all of these are symbolized in the Strength card. Drive your own path and overcome any obstacle. This card used to be called Fortitude.
Azerail was the former leader of the country of Avil. She had a very rough time in that kind of leadership role, much more a hands-on project leader than a desk worker. When her younger sister Anesha became of the right age, Azerail passed the torch of leadership, so that she may be free of this unbefitting burden. She travels with Kicora around the world to see firsthand what is going on in other counties.
The Hanged Man upright is about new perspectives, sacrifices, vulnerability, and selflessness. It is about a time of suspension that, when over, brings with it new insights. It is a very powerful card, it symbolizes letting that which you have held close go, surrendering the ego, turning that which you knew upside down.
Tin used to live in the Forest of Gindo. His dream had always been to travel the world and see everything it had to offer, But he was always too afraid to leave his home behind. One day during a massive storm, lightning struck the forest and a massive fire started. Tin was almost killed by a falling branch. He vowed then and there to stop hesitating on leaving for he only had so much time to try. He joined the first band of travelers he saw, which happened to be Kicora's group!
We got a little Backstory up in here!
More Tarots! This time with Havas as The Star and Fron as The Empress!
The Star is a card of hope and healing. Coming after the Tower, it promises that there is a future, and offers a light to guide the person on their way to that future. It is a drink of cool water (knowledge) in a wasteland, a promise of tomorrow.
The opposite is that there is no future, no hope, no healing. Or, more to the point, that any hope or promise offered is going to be false hope. The star one is following is not fixed, and will lead the person astray. There is a feeling of being lost, with no way out.
Havas is the God of Stars worshipped by the Kingdom of Upitas. He is a young god compared to most and therefore he still has much to learn. He holds much knowledge but is still nieve in some respects. He embodies both sides of the star.
The Empress is all about creation. It's about planting the seed, nurturing it, growing it. It's about patience and "motherhood" in all its facets, with the Empress as the ultimate mother - both the caring motherly kind, and the more distant, elegant kind, but in either case, the hen watching over her brood. Note that there is always a danger of the Empress over-watering the plants or having trouble (as moms do) in letting their children go when the time comes. She is the goddess, the great mother. She symbolizes love, beauty, fertility, and relationships. She also indicates money, peacemaking, and the arts.
Fron is the god of Nourishment and Life. She is worshipped by the people of Norshtil. While traveling the void she encountered Kicora and took her in as her own. She raised Kicora by herself in the void for years. She was ripped from the void by an unknown force and it is there that the journey starts.
New character alert!
This is Orcust! He's from the country of Solimol! He is the leader of a group called the Warlusted! I won't say any more about it, as I put a little hidden lore bit in my last post, heading into a bit of spoiler territory!
More tarots! This time with Dupal as The Emperor and Anesha as Temperance!
The Emperor is a card about control, authority, command, organization, and foundations. He follows all those other cards where the querent decides what he wants, and nurtures it into fruition--now what the querent has must be managed, guided. Hence, the Emperor.
He is the King and head honcho. he symbolized masculine creativity. He represents authority, power, responsibility, leadership, passion, and action; the warrior and defender. He symbolized new beginnings, competition, and aggression.
Dupal is actually a woman. She is the current queen of Solimol, as appointed by Salabrin, her sovereign god. She is strict, but not without compassion. She has many lives on her shoulders and it's her job to make sure that there is nothing amiss between other kingdoms and her own territory. Lately, she has been having do deal with a troublesome group known as the Warlusted; who seek to reclaim Solimol's former glory by means of war.
Temperance is all about synthesis, about creating a third, unique element out of two other, usually opposing, elements. This is not the balance of Justice which trims and re-distributes to even things out, but a merging of just enough of each to form something new.
Temperance in the upright position is a scientist in his lab mixing chemicals until he finds the right formula, a cure for some disease/problem.
Temperance is a very powerful symbol. After death, the soul is transmuted and tempered by the temperance angel into something new. It is the card of balance. This card symbolized the soulmate, the divine lovers, and alchemy. It represents optimism, higher knowledge, wisdom, and truth.
Anesha is the leader of the city of Avil and the younger sister of the former leader Azerail. She keeps all trade and laws pertaining to the magical crystals that litter the Anako desert. She must make sure that there are no improperly handled crystals exported or relations between her country and others will become strained from the inevitable explosion. Politics are currently very stressful from the possible war that may happen in the near future between the great nations of Solimol and Upitas.
Lots of exposition in this post and a little sneak peek at the newest bit of lore for the kicora comic!
Did some tarot cards for my character Kicora and Eden.
