If that eye does belong to Phos, what do you think the significance if it is? Sensei holding on to it I mean. It's going to show up again surely, or else it wouldn't have been shown.
The most striking symbolism that comes to mind is the eye representing Phos’ old persona and old way of seeing things.
Gems are born without proper eyeballs and Sensei chisels them specifically for each lustrous. Those eyes represent gem society, its values, the way Sensei and the gems understand equality and sameness. It is lustrous culture in its purest form, Phos’ old way of seeing things.
Now, Phos is left with just the pearl eye, the newest addition to their body. It’s ‘a crystal’ of the lunarians’ ‘wisdom,’ an object of their advanced technology and culture, and it symbolized their own way of seeing things.
It’s no wonder that Phos is siding with the lunarians at this point of the story while, previously, the fact that they had both a lustrous and a lunarian perspective allowed them to be super partes. Not a full lunarian and not a full lustrous. Just plainly human.
They’re still human, but with the loss of their old eye they lost their roots, so to speak, and Sensei is holding onto them, as founder and long-time leader of lustrous society. that’s probably among the reasons (metaphorically speaking at least) Phos wants to go back to Sensei and is so keen on voicing how much Sensei loves them, among all people.

Summary: Tony’s got a company to innovate for, a caffeine habit, and a particularly persistent stalker. He thought getting a big dog might discourage the stalker. He got Bucky, and so much more than he ever bargained for.
Bucky killed the wrong man, and now he’s got a year to prove that he’s changed his ways before the werewolf curse consumes his soul as well as his body. He was just looking for a way to get through the year. He wasn’t counting on Tony.
I’m waiting for the day when I will wake up and suddenly love myself...
This journey is the longest and hardest thing I have ever gone through.
It’s like a roller coaster that goes on forever,
Its an up-hill hike that never ends.
I just want to give up,
But I've been there before and It takes twice as long to get back to where you were.
I’m hoping one day I’ll just wake up and it’ll be over, I’ll love myself.
But that's not how life works.
Its so hard sometimes, but I have to keep fighting.
Against the mirror,
Against myself,
Against my body,
Against my brain.
Against all the people who bullied me because of my body,
Against my eating disorder,
Against the media that tells me I am nothing because I am fat.
Against the world it seems.
